Milltown needs a skate park of its own

Your article on the development of a skate park "Youngster’s Plea: Give Us a Place to Skate, Please," which appeared in the Dec. 13 issue of the Sentinel caught my eye.

A 9-year-old boy stood before the Milltown Borough Council and pleaded his case on why the borough needs a skate park.

The town was impressed enough to further investigate the possibilities.

Well, I am personally impressed with the amount of consideration taken, because I, myself, am a skater.

As a junior in high school, I am often consumed by work, but during the times that I am free, I enjoy skating.

The only problem is that there is no real place to skate, so my friends and I have to street skate.

Unfortunately, most people don’t support our sport and consider it vandalism, not to mention that it is dangerous.

It is for this reason that I believe an official skate park is an amazing idea.

Not only can kids have fun and stay out of trouble, they will be safe, too.

So I say, give us a place to skate and the possibilities for the future will be endless.
