School board candidate data available in South Brunswick

SOUTH BRUNSWICK — Residents wishing to run for the Board of Education can pick up their materials at the board’s Executive Drive offices.

Three seats will be filled this year when voters go to the polls on April 17.

The seats currently held by board President Harry Delgado, Dr. Matthew Speesler and Anna Tupe will be filled, and the new school budget will be voted upon during that election.

The deadline to file for a seat is 4 p.m. Feb. 26.

The School Board Candidates Kit, published by the New Jersey School Boards Association and available at the Board of Education offices, presents information on legal requirements for candidacy, campaign procedures, and the role of a school board member. The kit also contains information on the New Jersey School Ethics Act to which board members are expected to adhere.

"I urge citizens who believe they can make a contribution to their communities’ schools to consider Board of Education membership," association President Patti J. Pawling said in a press release announcing the availability of the kits.

The three incumbents have not said if they will seek another term on the panel.
