Carlton Akroyd

   Carlton J. Akroyd, 76, died Sunday at Deborah Heart & Lung Center.
   Born in Lawrence, he moved to Waretown in 1968.
   He had owned Akroyd’s Anchorage, Waretown, and worked at Bailey’s Millwork, Lawrence.
   He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Colahan.
   He was a member of the Lacey Township Elks, Lawrence VFW Post 3022 and the Slackwood Volunteer Fire Co.
   He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jane Peterson Akroyd; a daughter Susan G. of Arlington, Va.; and a brother, Dennis of Lawrenceville.
   Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Slackwood Presbyterian Church, 2020 Brunswick Pike.
   Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton.
   Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today (Thursday) at Layton’s Home For Funerals, 250 W. Lacey Road, Forked River.
