John Bennett is reappointed as township municipal attorney

   The full Hopewell Township Committee voted unanimously during its annual reorganization meeting Tuesday night to reappoint New Jersey Senate majority leader John Bennett to a one-year term as township attorney.
   "John Bennett has done a fantastic job for us. We’ve benefited from his legal advice countless times," Committeewoman Kathy Bird said.
   Department assignments given to committee members by Mayor Ferrara Tuesday night are:
   * Finance and administration: Mayor Ferrara.
   * Health and welfare: Robert Higgins.
   * Planing and zoning: Kathy Bird.
   * Public safety, technology and communications: Deputy Mayor Jon Edwards.
   * Public works, public buildings and ground: Francesca Bartlett.
   Other one-year appointments made by the mayor Tuesday night were:
   * Deputy court administrator: Margaret Umbro.
   * Deputy municipal clerk: Anne B. Moore.
   * Treasurer: Elaine Cruickshank-Borges.
   * Certifying agent for public employees retirement system: Deborah L. Smith.
   * Searcher for prospective assessments: Annette Bielawski.
   * Tax search officer: Kathleen Cantwell.
   * Zoning officer: Robert Miller.
   * Municipal court prosecutor: Kevin H. Main, Esq.
   * School crossing guards: Mirjam A. Voorhes, Susan R. Weidl, Joy Arena and Richard Reynolds.
   Kathleen Cantwell was reappointed township tax collector. Edmund Stiles was reappointed chairman of the township Environmental Commission.
   Appointed to the Zoning Board of Adjustment for four years were Mary Barna and Richard Willever. Vanessa Sandom was appointed for two years, as an alternate member.
   Kathy Bird was reappointed to the Planning Board for one year, as was Mayor Ferrara. Township administrator Christine Smeltzer was appointed for one year. Reappointed for four years on the Planning Board was Roger Haight. Reappointed to complete the last two years of unexpired terms on that board were William Connolly and Susan Repko.
   Appointed to the Environmental Commission for three years was Rex Parker. Appointed to the Historic Preservation Commission were Marilou Ehrler, for four years, and Barbara Wahlers, as an alternate member for two years.
   Appointed to the Open Space Advisory committee for three years were Patricia Sziber and Irene Jack. Michael Dawson was appointed to complete the last two years of an unexpired term.
