Mary H. McCarthy
Longtime Princeton resident
   Mary H. McCarthy of Princeton Borough died Feb. 16 at The Medical Center of Princeton. She was 93.
   Born in Castletown, Cross, County Mayo, Ireland, she was a resident of the Princeton area for the past 75 years.
   She was a homemaker and lifelong member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
   Daughter of the late Patrick and Bridget Hardiman, wife of the late Donald F. McCarthy, she is survived by sisters Cecelia Noon and Kathleen Maloney, both of Ireland, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
   Services were held Thursday. Arrangements were by The Kimble Funeral Home, Princeton.

Harry J. Christian
Retired from university
   Harry J. Christian of Princeton Township died Monday. He was 86.
   Born in Charles City, Va., he was a resident of Princeton more than 30 years.
   He was retired from Princeton University after more than 23 years.
   He was an Army veteran of World War II.
   He was a former member of Parish Hill Baptist Church, Charles City, and a member of First Baptist Church in Princeton.
   Son of the late Urias and Hattie Jones Christian, brother of the late William Urias Jr., James Christian and Elizabeth Massey, he is survived by daughter Laura Ann Sullivan of Silver Spring, Md.; four nieces, including Virginia Ann King of Princeton; other relatives; and special friends Joe and Mimmi Richardson.
   The funeral will be 11:30 a.m. today at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, with the Rev. Judson Carter officiating.
   Burial will be in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown.
   Calling hours will be 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Oscar Wolf
Industrial engineer
   Oscar Wolf of Princeton died Tuesday at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 71.
   Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Wolf was a former resident of Trenton and Lawrence and lived in Princeton the past five years.
   He was an industrial engineer and joined his father as a partner in Park Lane Handbags. He later co-founded and operated Michael Scott Inc. in Roebling.
   He was the director of numerous fashion shows and events at area organizations and businesses. Mr. Wolf was an artist and exhibited at the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton.
   He was a graduate of the University of Iowa and attended the University of Pennsylvania, Texas A&M and the University of Miami.
   He was an Army veteran of World War II
   He was a member of Greeenacres Country Club and the 20/30 Club of Trenton.
   He is survived by his wife, Gloria Gottlieb Wolf, sons Dr. Leonard Wolf of Richmond, Va. and Mark Wolf of Hackensack; grandchildren Heath, Cory, Jamie and Ean Wolf; and nieces and nephews.
   The funeral was held Thursday. Arrangements were by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing.
   The period of mourning is observed at the Wolf residence in Princeton.

Ossie M. Counts
Worked at Neuropsychiatric Institute
   MONTGOMERY — Ossie M. Counts of the Skillman section died Sunday at The Medical Center at Princeton.
   Born in Pelham, Ga., she grew up in Trenton.
   She was a psychiatric technician and supervisor at the New Jersey Neuropsychiatric Institute in Montgomery.
   She was a graduate of Trenton Central High School and received a bachelor’s degree in nursing form St. Peter’s School of Nursing in 1972.
   She was a former member of the Church of God in Christ and was active in its missionary department.
   She was a member of Bethel United Holy Church and its senior choir, kitchen committee and senior missionary department. She was a past president and director of the choir and member of Women AGLOW.
   Daughter of the late Owen and Ollie Graham Moreland and wife of the late John W. Counts, she is survived by son John W. Counts Jr. of Montgomery; son and daughter-in-law Warren and Evelyn Counts of Lawrence; brothers and sisters-in-law James and Ora Moreland of Trenton and Melvin "Sy" and Victoria Moreland; sister Eunice "Candy" Barge; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harold and Naomi of Ewing; brother-in-law George of New York; grandsons Warren and Clinton Counts of Trenton and Steven Counts of Hamilton; granddaughter Deanna Counts of Lawrence; a great-grandson; other relative and friends.
   The funeral will be noon Saturday at Grace Cathedral Fellowship Ministries, 1217 Calhoun St., Trenton, with Elder Richard L. Wilson of Bethel United Holy Church officiating.
   Burial will be in Ewing Cemetery.
   Calling hours will be 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.
   Arrangements are by Campbell Funeral Chapel, Trenton.
Elizabeth R. Mignano
Retired seamstress
   PLAINSBORO — Elizabeth R. Mignano died Monday at Cranbury Care Center. She was 90.
   Born in Manhattan, N.Y. she lived in Brooklyn, N.Y. nearly her entire life before moving to Jamesburg in 1996 and later to Plainsboro.
   She was a seamstress at Howard Semel Interiors in Brooklyn.
   Wife of the late John Mignano, she is survived by daughters Elizabeth Sergent and Geraldine M. Snadecky, both of Lady Lake, Fla.; brother Daniel Santa Lucia of Coconut Creek, Fla.; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
   The funeral will be 8 a.m. Saturday at M. J. Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Road, at New Road, in the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.
   Funeral liturgy will be 9 a.m. at the Nativity of Our Lord Church, 185 Applegarth Road, Monroe.
   Burial will be at the Moravian Cemetery in Staten Island, N.Y.
   Visiting hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bernard C. Kuehns
Clothing fabric salesman
   BARNEGAT LIGHT — Bernard C. Kuehns died Monday at Southern Ocean Center in Manahawkin. He was 87.
   Born in New York City, he was raised in Hoboken. He lived in Sloatsburg, N.Y., Park Forest, Ill., Somerset and East Brunswick before moving to Barnegat Light.
   He retired in 1973 after 33 years as a salesman of women’s clothing fabric at Deering Milliken, JP Stevens and Westwood Woolens.
   He was an accomplished fund-raiser and was instrumental in organizing the building funds at St. Mathias Church in Somerset and St. Irenaeus Church in Park Forest, Ill. He was a longtime member of the Holy Name Society at both churches as well as at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Brant Beach.
   In Barnegat Light he was an active in reorganizing the Barnegat Light Tax Payers Association, ran the borough tennis courts and was the dockmaster. He was an honorary member of the Barnegat Light First Aid Squad.
   He was well-known for his fitness regime of walking.
   Grandfather of the late Ian Kuehns, he is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Mannion Kuehns; daughters and sons-in-law Bonnie Kuehns-Gorman and Arthur Gorman of Hightstown, Deborah and David Choma of Bomoseen, Vt.; daughter Mary Kuehns of Columbus; son and daughter-in-law John and Kathryn of Monroe; and grandchildren Jonathan Choma, Sean Kuehns and Meaghan Jean Kuehns.
   The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Brant Beach.
   Burial will be private.

Freda M. L. Alexander
Daughter lives in West Windsor
   MONROE — Freda M. Lazier Alexander, a resident of Rossmoor, died Tuesday at The Medical Center at Princeton. She was 88.
   Born in Pittsburgh, she was a former resident of Pottstown, Pa.
   She was a past national president of The Jewish War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary.
   Earlier in her life, she was a noted vocalist. She sang on Pittsburgh’s radio station KDKA, as well as with society orchestras and was named Pittsburgh’s best female vocalist in a contest held by the Paul Whitman Orchestra and judged by Deems Taylor and George Gershwin. She also sang with Ted Lewis, Dick Powell, Will Roland and Gene Kelly.
   In Pottstown she performed in Junior Service League shows and served as a vocalist at many weddings. She was a member of Congregation Mercy and Truth Synagogue in Pottstown, where she was past president of The Sisterhood.
   She was a member of the Rossmoor Jewish Congregation, past president of Hadassah, ORT, and The Senior Citizens in the Valley Forge area.
   Wife of the late Dr. David Alexander, mother of the late Hillary Judd Alexander, sister of the late Sam Lazier, Edith Balin, Pearl Taksa, Ann Levine, Leona Lefton and Hilda Parnes, she is survived by daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Martin Demsky of West Windsor; grandchildren Alexander and Stephanie Demsky; and many nieces and nephews.
   The funeral was Wednesday. Arrangements were by Houck Funeral Home, Pottstown.
   Shiva is being observed at the Demsky residence in West Windsor.
   Memorial contributions may be made to any Jewish organization or the synagogue of one’s choice.
David Collins
Attorney
   SOUTH BRUNSWICK — David Collins died Feb. 17 in Singapore. He was 50.
   Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was an attorney and worked for the Office of the Governor of New Jersey, Office of Employee Relations, for 21 years.
   He received a bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University and a master’s degree in sociology from The New School for Social Research. He received a doctor of laws degree from Hofstra University Law School and was admitted to the New York Bar Association in 1978.
   He is survived by his parents, Jack and Mildred Collins of Brooklyn, N.Y.; his wife, Adriana Delia Collins; daughter Domenique Mara Collins; brother Dr. Eugene of Davenport, Iowa; sister Mindy Collins Scheer of Long Island, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews.
   The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave., Princeton.
   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Delaware-Raritan Girl Scout Council, 108 Church Lane, East Brunswick, NJ 08816 and the World Wildlife Federation.
Barbara C. McGuire
Son lives in Plainsboro
   MONROE — Barbara Cooper McGuire died Feb. 16 at home. She was 72.
   Born in Summit, she lived in Westfield and North Plainfield for 20 years before moving to Monroe.
   She was administrative assistant to the director of the March of Dimes, Central Jersey Chapter. Earlier, she was the banquet manager at The Chanticlier in Millburn. After retiring, she continued her association with The March of Dimes as a volunteer and also volunteered at the Bradley Food Pantry.
   While a resident of Westfield, she volunteered with Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, the Westfield Boys Baseball League and the Westfield PTA.
   She was an administrative assistant in the Wilson and Franklin elementary schools in the Westfield Public School System and served as president of The Women’s Club of Westfield.
   Her interests included music, photography, cooking, gardening, travel and spending time with family and friends.
   She is survived by her husband, Bill McGuire; daughter Nancy McGuire of Brick; daughter and son-in-law Joanne and John Adams of Little Silver; son Bill McGuire of Lakewood; son and daughter-in-law Jim and Sally Cooper of Plainsboro; brother and sister-in-law Fred and Gloria Reinman of Fox Island, Wash.; and grandchildren Michael and Drew Adams and Stephen and Beth Cooper.
   A memorial celebration was held Thursday.
   Arrangements were by Alloway Funeral Home, Merchantville.
