New password-protected billing service poised to assist corporations on the move
The Packet Group
Michael T. Robinson, president of Weichert Relocation Company, announces the introduction
of the company’s new international relocation billing service, the Global Accounts
Payable (GAP) program. The service, which addresses the needs of corporations
that move employees worldwide, provides auditing, accounts payable and reporting
functions to support their clients’ international relocation programs.
Mr. Robinson explained, "As companies continue to grow their businesses internationally,
the global employee transfer population will increase. With that comes an expanded
international supplier network. Weichert Relocation is now poised to assist corporations
with the added burden of auditing and paying invoices to that network."
Through GAP, Weichert Relocation Company provides its clients with automatic documentation
of payment dates and check issuance dates. Clients have on-line access to check
the status of invoices, cash remittances and purchase order balances. International
network suppliers also have access to the password-protected system to check on
a payment status.
Aram Minnetian, vice president of finance for Weichert Relocation, consulted
with some of the company’s clients to determine their international accounts
payable needs. Once the needs were established, a task force of representatives
from compensation, financial, tax, information technology, relocation and process
engineering designed the processes and supporting information technology to deliver
the service.
According to Mr. Minnetian, "For companies that have significant international
transfer volume, GAP helps to streamline the auditing and accounting functions.
We designed the service with a strong emphasis on administrative ease and financial
controls. This allows the corporate client to focus on their expatriates and domestic
transferees rather than auditing and paying bills. We have the ability to provide
information to our clients via electronic data interchange and we make payments
via electronic fund transfers. Both the clients and the suppliers are satisfied
with the results."
Mr. Robinson concluded, "We are very pleased with the success of the GAP
program and look forward to continuing to meet the challenges of a changing global
workforce."
