PENNINGTON DAY UPDATE

"Hands Across the Community" is the theme for the 22nd Pennington Day to be held Saturday, May 19.
The annual event began in 1980 as a community fund-raiser to benefit the Pennington School after the landmark, O’Hanlon Hall, was destroyed by fire. Over the years, Pennington Day has become a local tradition. Today, the proceeds from Pennington Day are distributed to local worthy organizations by the Pennington Day Grants Committee.
This years co-chairwomen — Ann Donnery, Antoinette Holliday, and Annette Sobel — felt "Hands Across the Community" would be an apt theme not only because of the funds distributed from Pennington Day to the community, but because it reflects the spirit of area residents who are involved in community life.
The chairwomen say there is still a need for volunteers for the following committees: contributions, rainy day, T-shirt sales, and volunteer coordinator. There are many volunteer opportunities available for anyone who can give as little as hour on May 19, Pennington Day.
Anyone who would like to help should call Ann Donnery at 737-3938.
The next Pennington Day planning meeting will be April 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the Brandon Farms Property Owners Association Clubhouse at Brandon and Denow roads.
