Washington, Upper Freehold hopefuls to face off in April Board of Education contests.

Two area districts, Upper Freehold and Washington, will have contested elections for board of education seats when voters go to the polls April 17.
Elections in Millstone and Roosevelt will be uncontested.
There are three seats open on the Upper Freehold Regional Board of Education. Board President Lynne Meara and Barry Wright are seeking re-election. Jeanette Bressi and Kimberly Sansouci are the other two candidates who filed this year.
Last year, Ms. Bressi ran as a write-in candidate. Ms. Meara has been on the board for a decade. Mr. Wright is completing his ninth year.
Incumbent Donna Miscoski decided to not run again.
In Washington, there are three seats open. Incumbents Geoffrey Lewen, Kevin Schick and David Pethybridge are all running again. They be joined in the race by newcomer Kelly Mitchell.
Mr. Schick was first elected to the board three years ago and Mr. Lewen is finishing his first three-year term on the board. Mr. Pethybridge was elected in April 2000 to finish an unexpired term.
The Millstone school board has three seats open and three people have filed to run. Board President Alan Gallagher and Kathy Winecoff are running again. David Markunas decided to not seek re-election.
Sami Qutub will seek to fill Mr. Markunas’ seat. Mr. Qutub ran for a seat on the board last year.
Mr. Gallagher has served for three terms on the board. Ms. Winecoff was elected to a three-year term in 1998
In Roosevelt, incumbents Lauralynne Cokeley, Linda Grayson and Linda Silverstein are running unopposed.
Ms. Silverstein had been appointed to fill an unexpired term and is seeking a full three-year term.
