There are three reasons why Mrs. Kelly’s 3rd grade class at Indian Fields Elementary School is classiest. The first reason is that we are helpful, the second is that we listen, and the third is that we are good students.
I think that my class should win the Class Act Contest because we are helpful to one another. For example, when a student does not understand a concept, another classmate tries to explain it to him or her. If that person still does not understand, then other kids try to help too. We want all of us to learn together. We do not say "Too bad! Just figure it out yourself." In fact, we cooperate with our fellow students a lot by working in pairs on math and reading activities. Another way that we help each other is through sharing. For instance, we lend our art supplies to each other.
Another reason why Mrs. Kelly’s class is the classiest is because we always listen to whoever is speaking. This is an important rule in our classroom. If someone is talking, we keep our ears open and show respect by looking at him or her. We pay attention; we do not whisper to friends because that would be rude. We also listen to our teacher so we know what work we are supposed to do. Our habit of good listening helps us to have a peaceful classroom and learn a lot.
The other reason we should win this contest is that we are good students. Most of the time, we all have our homework done. We work hard to edit and improve our writing. Recently, we completed a non-fiction book report, memory books about our lives, and stories about something that is special to us. Also, we study addition and subtraction facts every week. Then we graph our improvement in "Mad Minute" math quizzes, and try to solve more problems in a minute on the next try.
