Schneider (2-0) struck out seven Little Tigers, scattered six hits, and didn’t walk a batter. He gave up two runs in the bottom of the second inning and one in the third before shutting the door on Princeton.
The Cardinals (2-1) opened action on April 5 with a 6-3 loss at home to West Windsor-Plainsboro South.
Junior shortstop Mike Bruschini keyed a three-run top of the fourth against Princeton with a two-out, two-run double to score senior outfielder Bill Allegra and senior outfielder Chad Durling as the Cardinals broke a 3-3 tie.
Junior third baseman Mike Cacciabaudo opened the fourth with a single and Allegra followed with a single. After Durling walked to load the bases, senior catcher C.J. Hendricks plated Cacciabaudo with a single.
Bruschini then laced his two-bagger for a 6-3 lead and Schneider did the rest. Lawrence added a pair of insurance runs in the fifth and one in the seventh.
"The guys bounced back well from the loss to South," Cardinal head coach Brian Carter said. "There are still some things we need to work on, but it was a good win.
"They’re all good wins at this point."
Senior first baseman Kyle Anderson went 2-for-4 against Princeton with two runs scored, while Cacciabuado was 2-for-3 and scored once. Allegra was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a run batted in. Hendricks drove in a pair of runs and sophomore designated hitter Dave Waseleski added an RBI.
A four-run top of the fourth broke a 1-1 tie and keyed the triumph for WW-P South.
Waseleski went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored while Anderson drove in a run and Bruschini and Cacciabaudo each scored a run.
Senior righty Carl Holmquist gave up just three hits in four innings and was charged with five runs, but just two were earned. He walked four and fanned two.
Senior righty Tim Wenczel allowed only one run and one hit in his three innings in relief of Holmquist while walking one and striking out one.
"The fourth inning was the game," added Carter. "Carl and Tim gave us solid performances on the mound. Carl pitched better than the score indicated."
