The Mercer County Geriatric Center was opened in 1986. The center is a long-term care facility for the elderly and handicapped. This 240-bed facility is owned and operated by Mercer County. Volunteers play an important part in helping the center provide the best possible care for its residents in a warm, home-like atmosphere. Some volunteers work directly with the residents and others provide support services to the staff.

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton is a 166-bed acute care facility providing primary care to the community it serves. The hospital is affiliated with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey’s premier academic medical center. In addition to its acute care inpatient services, the hospital services include: The Emergency Services Department, open 24 hours a day and treating every kind of illness and injury. An on-site heliport provides transportation to and from the facility. The PromptCare Center is a fast track emergency service for those patients whose injuries or illnesses are not life-threatening. PromptCare patients are usually admitted, treated and discharged in less than an hour. The Emergency Chest Pain Service is also located in the Emergency Department. Patients experiencing chest pain are seen immediately by a team of experts who follow a specific set of protocols designed to stop a heart attack before it begins. The hospital is a community affiliate of The Cancer Institute of New Jersey. This means that cancer patients have access to the latest treatments and protocols developed by National Cancer Institute (NC1) cancer centers.

All services are available on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Located in the heart of Lawrenceville, St. Lawrence shares a 40-acre healthcare campus with Morris Hall – a residential long-term care facility and 120-bed skilled nursing center. The center offers a full range of health care facilities. The Medical Center at Princeton, a 450-bed community teaching hospital, is located in Princeton. It is comprised of seven operating units: Princeton Hospital is an acute 287-bed teaching hospital providing care in medicine, surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, emergency services, pathology and radiology, oncology and laboratory services. Princeton House, a 70-bed psychiatric and addictions treatment unit provides services for both in-patients and their families. Senior Link is a partial hospital, day treatment program for older adults which offers intermediate psychiatric care for people not requiring inpatient hospitalization, but who need more intensive treatment than what is normally provided by outpatient programs. Merwick is a 93-bed long unit which provides sub-acute medical and rehabilitation services. It provides services in residential and skilled nursing care physical medicine and hospital care as well as out-patient programs.
Home Care provides services including registered nursing care and 24 hour coverage. Home health aides and homemakers are also part of the home care.
Princeton Surgical Center offers same-day surgical care for healthy patients with the opportunity to recover at home. The Monroe Unit offers complete out-patient rehabilitation services including pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation services and physical therapy. Out-Patient counseling services specializing in geriatric issues such as issues of aging, bereavement counseling and psychiatric and addiction counseling are also available. The Hamilton Unit offers pediatric rehabilitation as well as out-patient psychiatric and addiction counseling.
