Organization plans to build property on hill

LAMBERTVILLE Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity will hold orientation meetings June 2 and June 9 for those considering applying for a house the organization plans to build on Connaught Hill this year.
The meetings start at 10 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church at 31 N. Union St.
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit Christian housing ministry that uses private donations and volunteer labor to build houses for low-income families. Habitat helps families build the house and funds costs, then sells the house to the family at no profit and no interest.
The successful applicant would have to demonstrate a need for affordable housing; volunteer "sweat equity" to build the house (minimum 250 hours for a single-adult household; minimum 500 hours for households with two or more adults); and meet income guidelines. For example, a family of two could not earn less than $20,400 or more than $34,000. A family of four could not earn less than $25,500 or more than $42,500.
