June C. Magierski Chase Fletcher, 77, of Cream Ridge died Wednesday, May 23, at the Arcadia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hamilton.
Born in Jersey City, she had resided in Mercerville for 30 years before moving to Cream Ridge in Dec. 2000. She was a veteran of World War II, where she was sergeant in the Woman Marines. She was executive secretary for the state for 30 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows R.C. Church in Hamilton; the All Woman’s Post #447; The American Legion of Mercer County, where she was commander five times; and the NJ-1 Woman’s Marines Association, where she was president for four years. She was a member of Girl Scout Troop #5 for 65 years, where they have a meeting once a year.
Daughter of the late John and Violet Magierski, she is survived by her husband, Robert W. Fletcher Sr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice C. and Kenneth Elsworth of Ewing; three stepsons and step daughters-in-law, Thomas W. and Victoria Fletcher of Reson, Va., Robert W. Jr. and Joanne Fletcher of Lawrenceville and Richard W. Sr. and Nancy Fletcher of Pennington; a stepdaughter, Beverly R. Fletcher of New Egypt; a brother, Henry Magierski of Mystic Island; nine grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 30 at Incarnation R.C. Church, Ewing. Burial will be in Harbourton Cemetery, Harbourton. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, Pennington Circle, Pennington. American Legion #447 All Woman’s Post will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. and the NJ-1 Woman’s Marine Association will conduct services at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
