EAST WINDSOR — Bowlers of all levels of ability are invited to have fun and support the new Senior Center in East Windsor at a bowling party this Sunday, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Brunswick East Windsor Lanes on Route 130.
"You don’t have to be a pro bowler. The idea is to come and have a good time and support a good community need," said East Windsor Mayor Janice Mironov. For those who desire them, Brunswick Lanes will even set up side bumpers to keep balls out of the gutters.
The East Windsor Township Council and Mayor Mironov are sponsoring the event and will be there in person to join in the fun.
"The suggested donation that we have set is $10 per person and $50 for a team of six people," the mayor said. "Everyone is invited both individually and as a team. We do expect to have several community groups that will be participating."
Advance reservations are not necessary — people can just show up Sunday evening, she added.
"We will have some prizes for the high scoring individuals and teams," the mayor noted. "As we finalize who’s participating we will set up some special competitions."
All proceeds will go toward building and equipping the new senior center on Lanning Drive, Mayor Mironov noted.
"We’re still finalizing the funding for the new senior center, and of course we will need to equip it," she said.
The funds will make it possible for the township to ensure that the new center is properly equipped and will contain such accessories as health screening equipment, computers, game room equipment and a television.
"The Brunswick East Windsor Lanes has donated the facility for the event," the mayor noted. "They are not taking anything for the use of the alleys. All funds raised will go directly to the senior center."
Several other area businesses have made generous financial contributions as sponsors of the event, Mayor Mironov added. They include McGraw Hill publishers, developers SGS Communities, engineering firm JCA Associates, Schoor Depalma Engineering and Design, Foodarama Supermarkets — the owners of ShopRite — developer Calton Homes, Windsor Nissan, developer Robertson Douglas Group, Diversified Rack & Shelving, Haldeman Ford, First Washington State Bank, Glackin Saul Funeral Homes, GMH Development Co., and Genuardi’s Family Markets, which will open in East Windsor on Route 571 this summer.
