The Board of Education has appointed an Asbury Park principal as top administrator at the high school.
Frank Ingaragiola will most likely start in his new post as South Brunswick High School principal in 30 days, said Vincent DeLucia, administrative assistant to the superintendent.
Mr. DeLucia said he will earn about $102,000.
Mr. Ingaragiola replaced Tom Kietrys who announced his retirement in November. Mr. Kietrys was principal for five years and helped open the new high school on Stouts Lane in 1997.
Mr. DeLucia said the process of finding a new principal began with 25 applicants and was reduced from there.
Mr. Ingaragiola was a principal in the Asbury Park school district since 1999 and was an assistant principal at Hightstown High School for four years.
"He is an outstanding teacher with an outstanding reputation," said Superintendent Sam Stewart. "He is a charismatic leader and is dedicated to doing what’s best for students."
Dr. Stewart said he was impressed by that fact that Mr. Ingaragiola said he would spend 60 to 70 percent of his time walking around the school, interacting with teachers and students.
Mr. Stewart also said Mr. Ingaragiola supports the strides SBHS hopes to make toward personalizing the education students receive.
"He is knowledgeable about the process that would lead to continued improvement," said Mr. Stewart.
Mr. Ingaragiola has taught all levels of English and has a bachelor’s degree in English from Fordham University in the Bronx and a master’s degree in English education from Columbia University in New York.
Mr. Ingaragiola spent two years teaching at Midwood High School in Brooklyn, which has an excellent reputation for its academic program, said Dr. Stewart.
