JAMESBURG The borough plans to reconstruct Maryott and George streets and install curbs and sidewalks on Stockton, Sheridan and Sherman streets in the coming year.
The Borough Council took a step toward financing the work Wednesday night when it authorized applications for state Department of Transportation funds.
The resolution for repaving said "Maryott Street or George Street," but Mayor Tony LaMantia said, "We’re trying to do both."
The mayor said the construction of curbs and sidewalks is part of an on-going borough project to upgrade Jamesburg’s streets.
"We apply for state Department of Transportation funds every year as part of a program to improve the borough’s streets in a methodical way," the mayor said.
He said the state has been pretty consistent in providing municipalities with funds.
