Period clothing needed for theater production

JACKSON — In an effort to authenticate its summer production, the Jackson Council for the Arts is seeking donations of all sizes of period clothing such as dresses, coats, hats, shoes, etc. for the actors of Singin’ and Swingin’ at the Cassville Canteen, to be held July 27-28 at Jackson Memorial High School’s Fine Arts Center.

Military uniforms are also needed. There will be a pre-show display dedicated to America and Americans in the 1940s and 1950s. Black and white photographs of the era are also sought.

If anyone can help this effort to bring back the spirit of the World War II era, call Stephanie Markerson at (732) 363-8758. A portion of the profits from this production are being donated to the New Jersey Korean War Memorial in Atlantic City.

Donations of nonperishable food items will be collected at the shows.

Needed items include cereal, canned fruit, peanut butter and jelly, macaroni and cheese, tuna and condiments. Also, personal care items such as toothpaste, paper products and soap are welcome.
