Elwood Turner

   HAMILTON — Elwood J. Turner, 79, died Thursday, July 5, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
   Born in Hamilton, he was a lifelong resident.
   He retired after 18 years with Hough Fuel, Trenton.
   He was an Army veteran of World War II and received the Bronze Star.
   Mr. Turner was past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3525 and past district commander of VFW District 18. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Trenton, the Silver Squares and Friendship Senior Citizen Club.
   Son of the late C. Elwood and Jennie Edwards Turner, brother of the late Muriel Frascella, Dorothea Harney, June Brearley, Melvin, Richard, Earle and Alan and father-in-law of the late Robert Cartwright, he is survived by his wife, Ruth Elizabeth Oliver Turner; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Beverly and Dennis Yard of Hamilton Square, Barbara Cartwright of Robbinsville, Beth and Thomas Pfeiffer of Yardville, Bonnie and James Mabin of Hightstown and Brenda Yenner of Mercerville; 10 grandchildren, Eric McCarty of Colorado, Mark McCarty of Robbinsville, Kirsten Yard of Hamilton Square, Justin Cartwright of Robbinsville, Amanda and Jenna Pfeiffer of Yardville, Elizabeth, Richard and Allyson Samu of Hightstown and Keith Yenner of Lawrenceville; two stepgrandchildren, Tasha and Victor Mabin of Hightstown; a great-grandson, Alexander McCarty of Colorado; and other relatives and friends.
   Arrangements were by Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square.
   Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
