MARGARET FILONUK, 82, of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet died July 12 at Victoria Health Care Center, Matawan. Born in Nanty-Glo, Pa., she resided in New York City before moving to West Keansburg in 1975. She worked as a seamstress for several local companies over the past 45 years. She was a member of the Senior Center of Keyport. She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, John Filonuk, in 1981. She is survived by her son, John Filonuk of Middletown; her sister, Irene Pelosi of Highlands; her grandson, Lyle Filonuk; and two granddaughters, Melinda Filonuk and Erin Buchanan. Burial was at Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo section of Middletown.
PATRICK J. COYLE, 23, of Hazlet died July 13 in East Rutherford. Born in Red Bank, he lived most of his life in Hazlet. He was a splicing technician for Verizon, Lyndhurst, for the past three years. He was a communicant of St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. A graduate of Raritan High School, he attended Kean University, Union, where he played for its basketball team. He was active in several sports, and a member of the Hazlet Youth Athletic Association, Hazlet Hawks Pop Warner Football, and Central Jersey Hawks AAU Basketball team. He is survived by his parents, Patrick J. and Ann R. Schmidt Coyle of Hazlet; his sister, Elizabeth Ann Coyle of Hazlet; and his grandmother, Mary Coyle of the Belford section of Middletown. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
MARTHA ANNE CAPTANIAN DAY, 83, of Aberdeen died July 13 at home. Born in Virginia, she previously lived in Matawan before moving to Aberdeen 19 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, as well as a member of its Senior Group. Her activities included membership on the Bayshore Hospital Auxiliary, Holmdel; traveling, card playing and jigsaw puzzles. She was predeceased by her husband, James C. Day, in 2000; and her first husband, Aram A. Captanian, in 1978. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Swartz of Darien, Ill.; her son, Timothy Herboth of Chicago; her stepdaughter, Elaine H. Captanian Clark of Red Bank; her stepson, James C. Day of Matawan; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be offered July 18 at 9:15 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, followed by burial at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
GENEVIEVE F. JANKOUSKAS, 86, of the East Keansburg section of Middletown died July 13 at Holmdel Convalescent Center. Born in South Boston, she previously lived in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Middletown, before moving to East Keansburg. She was a sales clerk for Fashion Bug, Hazlet, for eight years before retirement six years ago. Prior to that, she worked for a ladies garment factory in Keyport, and RCA Corp. in Massachusetts. She was a member of the Bayshore Columbiettes, Keansburg; and former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post No. 2179, Middletown. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Bronisloius Jankouskas, in 1975. She is survived by her son, Philip B. Jankouskas of Castle Rock, Calif.; her daughter, Norma Jean Moscow of Keansburg; and four grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
