The dog days of summer are supposed to be a time of inactivity, but that doesn’t seem to be the case in the Bayshore area. As you’ll read in this week’s Independent, there’s a lot of hustle and bustle going on in preparation for the fall.
Keyport Fast Ferry has a new target date to get its commuter ferry service up and running — late September. Let’s hope that happens.
Lowe’s, the big home improvement store which is expected give Home Depot stiff competition, plans to break ground in September in Holmdel.
In Middletown, many of the civic associations have decided to join forces to have a stronger voice in municipal government and local development. If this new Council of Civic Associations does work out — and that surely remains to be seen — it could become a powerful voice.
Also in Middletown, the town square developers say their Zoning Board application will be complete soon. While still no more than a concept, the huge development proposal has generated tremendous controversy over the past year and will continue to do so, but at least, with a complete application, the two sides will be able to argue about specifics, not just concepts.
There are just three more weeks of summer, so make the most of them, for fall is shaping up to be a bustling time.
