Carl W. Bergen

   Carl W. Bergen Jr., 60, died Tuesday, July 31 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
   Born in New Brunswick, he lived in Highland Park before moving to Monmouth Junction 30 years ago.
   Mr. Bergen was a 1958 graduate of Highland Park High School. He was the owner and operator of Bergen’s Car Care Center on Raritan Avenue in Highland Park for 35 years.
   He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Stevens) Bergen; a son, Carl W. Bergen III of South Brunswick; a brother and his wife, John and Donna Bergen of Milltown; his mother-in-law, Malvina Hanley of North Brunswick; his aunt and uncle, Angelina and Albert Pino of Edison; two sisters-in-law, Carole Stevens and her husband Michael Welte of Monroe and Judith Pajak of Somerset; three brothers-in-law, Bill and his wife Lynn Stevens of Sayreville, Wayne Stevens of East Brunswick and Roger Stevens of Spotswood and three nieces, Margie Ellen and Jaimie Pajak, both of Somerset and Dawn Alexander of San Leandro, Calif.
   A memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 4 at Quackenboss Funeral Home, 156 Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick.
   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, 195 Little Albany Street, New Brunswick, N.J. 08901.
