Team welcomes back five new returning varsity stars

The 2001 Northern Burlington County Regional High School girls’ varsity field hockey team will feature five returning varsity stars (Dusty Archer, Danny Walder, Jackie Mitchell, Justine Tomasso and Kelly Restuccia) and a junior standout, Stacey Morgan.
Archer, a third-year varsity player, will play an attack position.
Tomasso is an experience center-mid. Playing in her third season at the varsity level, Danny Walder (attack) should have a great year. Mitchell, also an attack player, will be playing in her second season at the varsity level. Restuccia, back for her second year of varsity field hockey, is a skilled defender.
NBC head coach Chris Haines is looking for great things out of goalie Stacey Morgan, who has a year of varsity experience under her belt. Sophomore Rachel Walder, a fleet-footed returning varsity player, will be a midfielder.
Last season, Alexandra Vrettos was one of the top scorers o NBC’s junior varsity team. This year the super sophomore left mid will give NBC an added offensive boost. Amelia Broderick is a talented junior attack player.
Chrisitin Chiemingo (a senior back) and Kristin Gonzalez ( a senior defender) are also quality varsity players.
Coach Haines will have plenty of help this season with Connie Bunce as her assistant coach and Brian Wolverton coaching the JV team.
"It’s good to hear someone else’s perspective on the game," said Haines, who is entering her 19th season as the head coach of the Greyhounds. "The coaching staff is thankful to PIE."
PIE is the Partners in Education, and it consists of several concerned parents who helped enable AIBC squads to hire more assistant coaches, among other things.
Last season, NBC had a rare under .500 year. This year’s squad is hoping to climb back into the playoffs. With players like the Walders, Archer, Tamasso and Morgan, anything is possible.
