Nicholas S. Castoro

Former Hopewell magistrate

Nicholas S. Castoro, 86, died Friday at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
Born in Hoboken, he was a longtime Hopewell resident.
Mr. Castoro graduated from Hopewell Valley High School, Fordham University and Rutgers University School of Law.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Castoro practiced law in Hopewell for 54 years and was the borough’s magistrate for 36 years. He also was the township’s magistrate.
He was a member of St. Alphonsus Church and American Legion Post 339.
Son of the late Saverio and Rosa Castoro and brother of the late Joseph N. and Angelo N., he is survived by his wife of 56 years, Louise H. Castoro; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Jean and Bruno Paulinski of Trenton, Grace Weidl of Hopewell and Connie and Don Angelini of Seaside Park; a brother and sister-in-law, Mario and Verna Castoro of Tucson, Ariz.; three sisters-in-law, Katherine Crater of Charlotte, N.C., and Tina and Beatrice Castoro of Hopewell; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral and burial will be private.
