Historic service

   The First Baptist Church of Bordentown will be conducting a special historic worship service at 10:15 a.m., Sept. 16. The old-fashioned Baptist Meeting House service is in celebration of its 250th anniversary. The pastor, the ushers and many members of the congregation will be dressed in colonial costume. Family fun fair

   Columbus Baptist Church, 24260 West Main Street, Columbus, will host a family fun fair from 3 to 7 p.m., Sept. 8. For information call 298-6226.
School reunion

Commerce

   The Greater Bordentown Area Chamber of Commerce monthly meeting will be at 7:30 a.m., Sept. 12, at Mastoris Diner, Route 130, Bordentown. Guest speakers will be Arthur Z. Testimonial dinner

   The Florence Township Club is sponsoring a testimonial dinner to honor George E. Sampson at 7 p.m., Sept. 29, at the American Legion Post 39. Cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 each. Call Jerry Sandusky at 499-1558 for information or to order tickets.
Chicken dinner

   The Trinity United Methodist Church is holding an individual chicken pie dinner from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sept. 29, at the church, 339 Farnsworth Avenue. Advance purchase of tickets a must.    The Bordentown Chapter 257, Order of the Easter Star, will be serving a fried oyster and chicken salad dinner from 3 to 6:30 p.m., Oct. 13, at the Masonic Temple, 121 Farnsworth Avenue. Domestic violence

   The Burlington City and Florence Township Police, in collaboration with Providence House/Catholic Charities and Burlington Township Police, are recruiting volunteers for a domestic violence victim response team.

Ethnic festival

   St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church will be holding their annual ethnic festival from noon to 6 p.m., Sept. 9, at the St. Nicholas picnic grove, Norman Avenue, Roebling. It will be a mid-European festival featuring live entertainment. Admission is $2. Children will be admitted free with parents. Showboat trip

   The Knights of Columbus 570 will sponsor a trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City, Sept. 16. The cost is $15 per person and participants will receive $10 in coins. For reservations call Bob at 298-5530.
Bordentown Seniors

   Sept. 17, second monthly meeting of the Bordentown Township Senior Citizens Club. Doors open at 11 a.m., meeting starts at 1 p.m. Blood pressure screening available. Also on this date at 1 p.m. ballroom dancing lessons.

Sept. 15, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., township community day.

   Meetings are held on the first and third Mondays of each month at the Senior Citizens Community Center on Municipal Drive. Light refreshments and bingo follow the meetings. Township seniors aged 55 and over welcome. Dance motivation exercise classes are held 11 a.m. to noon every Friday.    The Roebling Historical Society will present its fifth annual "Occasion in the Park" on from 1 to 7 p.m., Sept. 16, in Roebling Park, Riverside Avenue.

Flea market

   The Ladies Auxiliary of the Chesterfield Hose Company will hold its annual flea market 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sept. 22, rain or shine, on the Chesterfield Firehouse grounds. Vendors and crafter welcome. A charge of $8 per table space, bring your own table. For more information, call 298-3859.
Quilts for Kids

   The Quilts for Kids sewing group will resume its meetings on Sept. 26 and will meet every fourth Wednesday at Bordentown Presbyterian Church on Farnsworth Avenue. All are welcome. The group makes machine-sewn quilts for sick and abused children.
Memorial monument

   The Roebling Garden Club is seeking donations to purchase and erect a monument to honor Dr. J. Howard Hornberger at his gravesite at Cedar Hill Cemetery. A booklet also is being prepared including anecdotes, memories and stories about Dr. Hornberger, who served the community for 40 years as a local physician.

Dedication ceremony

   The Roebling Garden Club invites the public to attend the Dr. J. Howard Hornberger memorial monument dedication ceremony at 2 p.m., Sept. 30, at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedar Lane, Florence. St. Mary’s trips

   The Friends of St. Mary’s School will sponsor the following trips this fall that are open to the public.
   A trip to the Brownstone Inn in Wayne to celebrate Oktoberfest is planned for Oct. 23. There will be a trip to Hunterdon Hills Playhouse to see a Christmas musical show on Nov. 1.

Holiday craft show

   Friends of St. Mary’s School are seeking crafters for their holiday craft show and bake sale scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Nov. 10, at St. Mary’s School in Bordentown. The cost of the table is $20. Crafters interested in participating should contact Sue at (609) 324-9082.
Flea market

   Friends of St. Mary’s School will hold a flea market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sept. 22, in the school gym and parking lot located at 30 Elizabeth Street, with entrances also on Second Street and Crosswicks Street. A bag of clothes is $1. Free door prizes. Lunch will be available. Inside tables are $10 each. Outside spaces are $5. For more information call 298-7768.

Toastmasters

   The Silver Tongues chapter of Toastmasters meets at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of every month at the Londonshire Restaurant, Route 130, Burlington.
