Severino Ercoli Gallo
Severino Ercoli Gallo, 85, died Sunday at home.
Born in Monterey, Calif., he had lived in New York before moving to Hopewell Township in 1980.
He was an Army Veteran of World War II and served in the Battle of Normandy, northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a waiter in New York for Mama Leone’s and the Twenty One Club, and retired in 1980 after 30 years with Sardi’s. He was a member of the Hotel and Restaurant Workers Union Local 100. He enjoyed gardening and received a blue ribbon for his Beef Heart Tomato in the Dutchess County, (N.Y.) Fair.
Brother of the late Joseph Gallo, he is survived by his wife, Emma Quaccia Gallo; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and George Sciarrotta of Hopewell; three grandchildren, Nina Marie, Michael Nicholas and Daniela Angel Sciarrotta; two sisters, Adele Gagliardi of Asti, Italy, and Rosetta Marite of Montgardin, Italy; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Blackwell Memorial Home, 21 N. Main St., Pennington.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. at St. James Church, 115 E. Delaware Ave., Pennington.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Hopewell.
Calling hours will be 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Aviva Sussman
Aviva Sussman, 76, died Monday at Greenwood House, Ewing.
Born in Hightstown, she lived in Lawrenceville for 30 years before moving to Pennington three years ago.
She graduated from Rider University and was a teacher at Allentown High School 20 years, retiring 25 years ago. She was a member of Adath Israel Congregation, Hadassah, Jewish Community Center and the Lawrence Township Arbitration Board.
Daughter of the late Rabbi Michel and Sarah Konov, she is survived by her husband, Leon "Al"; a son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Elaine Sussman of Princeton Junction; and four grandchildren, Scott, Jeffrey, Daniel and Carly.
Funeral was Wednesday at Adath Israel Congregation, Lawrence, with Rabbi Daniel Grossman and Cantor Arthur Katlin officiating.
Burial was in Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, Adath Israel section. The period of mourning will be at the residence of Barry and Elaine Sussman today and Thursday.

Saveria Buttice
Saveria Valeri Buttice, 86, of Hamilton died Aug. 31 at St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton.
Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong area resident.
She was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Trenton.
Wife of the late Giambattista Buttice and mother of the late Mary Angle, she is survived by five daughters and three sons-in-law, Rose Buttice of Hamilton, Jean Amantia of Trenton, Carmela and Thomas Maglione of Hamilton, Patricia and James Garruba of Trenton and Saveria and John Symons of Pennington; a sister, Jean Carr of Johnstown, Pa.; six grandchildren, Kimberly Vaporakis of Belle Mead, Michele Vitetta of Englewood Cliffs, Nicole Spinogatti of Hamilton, Andrea Schwarz of Burlington, Danielle Garruba of Trenton and Alexis Maglione of Hamilton; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral was Tuesday at Saul Colonial Home, Hamilton Square.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Trenton. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Louis A. Maranca
Louis A. Maranca, 76, died Aug. 31 at home.
Born in Philadelphia, he lived most of his life in Highland Park, before moving to Wilkes-Barre, Pa., in 1990.
Mr. Maranca retired in 1988 after many years with Mobil Chemical Co. in Edison. A Navy veteran of World War II, he received the Philippine Liberation Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, American Theatre Medal and Victory Medal.
Son of the late Peter and Lillian Damico Maranca and grandfather of the late Samantha Lynn Maranca, he is survived by two daughters, Dolores Tirri of Brookfield, Conn., and Margaret Louadi of Highland Park; four sons, Peter of Pennington, Anthony of Ithaca, N.Y., Louis Jr. of Highland Park and John of New Brunswick; a brother, Michael of Highland Park; two sisters, Margaret Zullinger of Metuchen, and Precious "Anne" Rapisarda of Edison; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral Liturgy was celebrated Wednesday at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Highland Park.
Burial was in St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick.

Marjorie C. Tantum
Marjorie C. Tantum, 84, died Aug. 29 at home.
Born in Hopewell Township, she lived in Pennington before moving to Mercerville 47 years ago.
She was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church, Hamilton, and enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Wife of the late L. Edmund Tantum, she is survived by a stepson and his wife, George C. and Doris Tantum of North Fort Myers, Fla.; two grandsons, Gary Tantum of Sewell and Timothy Tantum of Titusville; and two nieces, Ann Ehrlich of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Marie Beard of Lehigh Acres, Fla. Funeral was Tuesday at Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown, with the Rev. Jeffrey E. Ugoretz, pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was in Colonial Memorial Park.

Robert G. Rhoads
Robert G. Rhoads, 66, died Aug. 30 at home.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong city resident.
He graduated from Yale University and received a law degree from the University of Michigan. Mr. Rhoads had been a U.S. public defender and a corporate attorney for W.T. Grant stores before opening a private practice in Trenton. He retired in 1998. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and the New Jersey and Mercer County Bar associations.
Son of the late Samuel and Camilla Rhoads and brother of the late Elizabeth Rhoads, he is survived by four brothers and three sisters-in-law, William of Surprise, Ariz., John and Jean Rhoads of Ewing, Richard and Margaret Rhoads of Trenton and David and Suzanne Rhoads of Pennington; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral was Wednesday at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, Lawrence Road, Lawrence, with the Rev. Diane Nancekivell, rector of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, officiating. Burial was in Ewing Cemetery.
