DELAWARE TOWNSHIP Victor I. Umyn, 56, died Monday, Sept. 3, at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township.
Born in Germany, he moved to the United States in 1951 and had lived in Delaware Township for the past 19 years.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He earned a degree in political science from Albright College and in economics from Rider College.
For the past 21 years, he worked for the state Division of Law and Public Safety Gaming Division as a supervising state investigator.
He was a member of the U.S. Tennis Association.
Son of the late Ivan and Anna Ohij Umyn, he is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Umyn; a son, Patrick Umyn of Delaware Township; a brother, Borys of Columbus; a sister, Lida Plisko of Lawrenceville; four nephews, Dimitry Umyn of New York, Andrew Umyn of Columbus, Tony Plisko of Lawrenceville and William Szuch of Toronto; a niece, Lily Umyn of San Francisco; and his companion, Barbara Strano of Newtown, Pa.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, Main Street, South Bound Brook.
Calling hours will be today (Thursday, Sept. 6) from 6-9 p.m. at the Garefino Funeral Home, 12 N. Franklin St., Lambertville.
