Edward R. Jones Sr.
Owned Sterile Laboratories
   LONGWOOD, Fla. — Edward R. Jones Sr. died Aug. 30. He was 78.
   He was a resident of Princeton Township from 1960 to 1985.
   Mr. Jones founded and owned Sterile Laboratories, a pharmaceutical manufacturing company with offices in Palmer Square and major plants in West Windsor and Somerville. Among Mr. Jones’ developments was stretch gauze.
   Mr. Jones was a member of Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton and Bedens Brook Country Club in Montgomery.
   He was a 32nd degree mason and honorary member of several organizations.
   He is survived by his wife, Janet Clara Jones of Longwood, Fla.; daughters Alice Haiss of Skowhegan, Maine and Lucy Jones of Berkeley, Calif.; sons Edward Jones Jr. of Yardley, Pa., Ken Jones of Hermosa, Calif., Tom Jones and Jim Jones, both of Longwood, Fla., and Will Jones of Berkeley, Calif.; brothers John P. Jones Jr. and Richard Jones; sister Dorothy Jones Watson; and 10 grandchildren.
   The funeral was Sept. 5.
   Arrangements were by C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home, Ridgewood.
Gertrude S. Schureman
Retired from university
   ATLANTIC BEACH, N.C. — Gertrude Schauer Schureman died Friday in Chowan Hospital, Edenton, N.C. She was 87.
   A native of Sanatoga, Pa., she was Food Services supervisor at Princeton University before retiring.
   Daughter of the late Gertrude Schauer and Mark Charles Yerger, wife of the late James M. Schureman, she is survived by daughter and son-in-law Mary Jane and Preston Sisk of Edenton and granddaughter Penelope Ann Sisk of Raleigh, N.C.

Dr. Charles M. Boozan
Retired ophthalmologist
   SEA GIRT — Dr. Charles William Boozan died Sept. 5 at home. He was 82.
   He was attending ophthalmologist at Elizabeth General Medical Center, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and Alexian Brothers Hospital in Elizabeth, which have now merged as Trinitas Hospital.
   A 1936 graduate of the Pingry School, he graduated from Princeton University in 1940 and lettered for three years on the varsity swimming team. He graduated from Cornell Medical College in 1943.
   He was an Army physician stationed in the South Pacific during World War II, rising to the rank of captain.
   After the war, he completed his internship in internal medicine at St. Vincent’s Hospital and in 1951 completed his residency in ophthalmology at Bellevue Hospital, New York City.
   He was president of the Union County Medical Society from 1962 to 1963 and during his tenure was instrumental in distributing the first oral polio vaccine to county residents.
   He was a lector at the Immaculate Conception Church in Elizabeth and a communicant at St. Mark’s Church in Sea Girt.
   His three sons followed him to Princeton University and all became physicians.
   Dr. Boozan retired from private practice in 1990 and during the last 10 years he traveled widely and was involved in Princeton University alumni activities.
   Son of the late William Edwin Boozan and Theresa Coogan Boozan, he is survived by his wife, Mona Meehan Boozan of Elizabeth; sons William Boozan of New York City, John Boozan of Summit and James Boozan of Pennington; sister Doris Lynch of Roslyn, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.
   Remembrances may be made in his name to Pingry School, Martinsville Road, Martinsville, NJ 08836.
Mary Williams
Retired home health aide
   PLAINSBORO — Mary Williams died Monday at The Medical Center at Princeton. She was 90.
   Born in Marion, S.C., she moved to Trenton in 1915 and attended city public schools. She moved to New York City in 1930 and moved back to Trenton in 1984.
   In New York, she was a home health aide with the Visiting Nurse Association of New York. She was a member of Bethel AME Church in New York for more than 50 years and served on many church boards, including the Junior Deaconess Board.
   Upon her return to Trenton, she joined Mount Zion AME Church.
   Wife of the late Timothy Dunn and Willie L. Williams, mother of the late Reginald Harvey, stepmother of the late Mildred L. Scott and Lorraine Hassan and sister of the late John E. Adams, she is survived by sisters Helen Wells and Doris Adams, both of New York City; stepdaughters Genevieve Dunn of New York City and Geraldine Lech of Pemberton; grandchildren Regina Harvey of Maryland and Reynard Dunn of New York City; great-granddaughters Brittanie Harvey and LaRecie and Yanique Dunn; sisters-in-law Tharon B. Adams and Jane Williams of Ewing; nieces and their husbands Evelyn and Barry Bates of Ewing, Shirley and Theodore Robinson of Willingboro and Lesley Borges Carter, her caregiver, and the Rev. Judson Carter of Trenton; special niece and caregiver Jean Greene; two other nieces, Cecilia St. Cyr of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Donna Lawrence of New York City; godson Matthew Greene and his wife, Tita, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; special cousin Margaret Scott and aunt Catherine Johnson, both of Trenton; and other relatives.
   The funeral was Monday.
