Rec registration: From 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., the South Brunswick Department of Recreation and Community Affairs will hold fall registration for the Creative Learning programs for pre-kindergartners, and for the Bright Starts preschool programs.
Registration will be held at the Community Center in Woodlot Park on New Road. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and numbers will be distributed at that time. The registration is open to South Brunswick township residents only. Non-residents may register two days before programs begin, if there is available space.
Registration will be done on a first come, first serve basis, and must be done in person. Parents must have a registration form, and a copy of the child’s birth certificate if the birth certificate is not already on file. Creative Learning registrants must have updated medical and data forms completed. Children must meet the age requirements by Oct. 12.

Unity Day: From noon to 5 p.m., the South Brunswick Municipal Alliance will sponsor the Charlene J. Austin Community Unity Day at the Community Center in Woodlot Park.
The event supports a drug-free environment and celebrates South Brunswick’s diverse cultural composition.
Lou Russo from Magic 98.3 will broadcast live from the festivities. All members of the public are welcome. Pets and smoking are prohibited.

Benefit bike tour: Habitat for Humanity will sponsor their Fourth Annual Bicycle Tour through the area on Sept. 16. Money raised from the event will go toward building affordable homes for families in need in Middlesex County.
Riders may opt for six different scenic routes: 100-, 62-, 50-, 35-, 25- and 12-mile routes, which all start and end in Thompson Park, Jamesburg.
All riders receive free food, and pre-registrants receive souvenirs. Pre-registration is due by Sept. 8. Pre-registration fees are $30 adults with a T-shirt, $25 for adults without a T-shirt and $5 for children under 18. Day-of-ride registration is $30 for adults, T-shirt not included and $5 for children, T-shirt not included.
Helmets are required for all riders.

Picnic: VFW Post 9111 and American Legion Post 401 are holding a joint picnic at 11 Henderson Road from noon to 6 p.m. Cost is $47 per person, children 10 and under $4. Call the VFW Post home at (732) 297-9823 for more information.
