Our
thoughts & prayers go out to all of the lives that

were painfully affected by last week’s terrible events in

New York, Washington D.C., & Pennsylvania.

We also acknowledge the
heroic efforts of all rescue & relief

efforts in the aftermath of this tragedy.

The
following is a list of businesses and associations that are helping
to

collect and distribute donations to those in need.

Mercer
County and Somerset County United Ways are taking part in the

September 11th Fund in cooperation with United Way of New York City.
The

effort is supported by the Princeton Area Community Foundation. The
fund is

also providing immediate support to emergency assistance agencies, including

the American Red Cross. Send checks to United Way of New York, 2 Park

Marrazzo’s
is sending water & supplies of their own to the Red Cross daily.

Wegmans
at Nassau Park in West Windsor is offering a checkout donation

program to aid The American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

ShopRite stores are collecting $2 and $5 donations at checkout or the

courtesy desk for The American Red Cross and Salvation Army.

Patrons at Acme supermarkets may make donations in special cans that
also

can be found at stores nearby. Donations will be forwarded to the American

Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and the company has promised to match
any

donations up to a total of $50,000.

New
Jersey Symphony Orchestra is collecting donations for the Red Cross
at

all performances located in Newark, NJ (973) 624-3713.

*The
Medical Center at Princeton’s blood collection drive continues
today

from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 253 Witherspoon St., Princeton. The center

announced that the immediate need for blood in the New York area has
been

met, though there will be a continuing need in coming weeks. It is now

necessary to make an appointment to give blood. Call (609) 497-4366.
The

greatest need is for O-positive and O-negative blood.

*The
American Red Cross is scheduling blood donations.

*Community
Blood Council of New Jersey is collecting blood at 1410

Parkside Ave., Ewing. Call (609) 883-9750.

The
Blawenburg Reformed Church in Montgomery is collecting goods such as

dust masks, safety glasses, gloves, bottled water and snack food for
use by

emergency workers. An initial weekend delivery is planned. Individuals
and

businesses should call (609) 466-3 108 for further information.

The
New Jersey Chamber of Commerce’s Web site,

contains a "How You Can Help" section for businesses seeking
to provide

assistance. Messages are posted about needed goods, services and manpower.

The New Jersey Business & Industry Association has also posted a

The
trauma from Tuesday’s tragic events extends far beyond the families
of

victims, reaching those who witnessed the events in person, on television
or

in the newspapers. Many area organizations are anxious to provide help
with

the resulting anxiety, anger and stress:

Drop
donations of bottled water, heavy duty work gloves, dust masks,

dry dog food and dog treats at the Hightstown Borough Hall on Main

Street during regular business hours M-F, 8:3Oam to 4:30pm,

Tuesday 8:30am to 6:30 pm), or in the lobby of the Hightstown

Police Department, adjacent to Borough Hall, during off-hours.

In
Millstone Township, they will be collecting water, work gloves,

masks, goggles, bandanas, towels, blankets, socks, underwear, C &
D

batteries, dry dog food and booties for dogs’ paws (to keep them
from

getting hurt when they climb over rubble).

Leave donations on the steps of the Clarksburg School, 470

Stagecoach Road in Millstone Township. Drop off between 9am and

8pm daily until Tues. Sept. 18, until 3pm.

In
Upper Freehold, they are in search for donations of water,

beverages (particularly caffeinated drinks),

work gloves, masks, goggles, bandanas, socks, underwear and dry dog

food (preferably Science Diet).

Collections will be taken in conjunction with the Millstone Office of

Emergency Management. Donations will be accepted at the

Clarksburg School, 470 Stagecoach Road, Millstone, or at the Upper

Freehold Township Municipal Building on Route 539.

In
Plumsted, JL Automotive, at the intersection of Route 539 and

Route 528, will be accepting food, clothes, toiletries, water, and

anything else anyone feels is appropriate to donate. Donations will
be

accepted for "as long as they are needed."

is accepting donations of batteries, clothing, blankets,

power bars, towels, Gatorade, drinks, eye solution, etc. Their Drop

Off Centers are at the Ground Round at 183 Route 130,

Bordentown, NJ, the Ground Round at 1852 Olden Ave., Ewing, NT

& Rumbleseats at 4095 Route 1, S. Brunswick, NJ.
