Like all Americans, the employees of Greater Media Newspapers were shocked, saddened and angered by the tragic events of Sept. 11. And like most of our countrymen, we’ve spent many hours in the last week discussing what we, and our publications, can do to help.
This week, nearly all the reporters for our publications have spent their time documenting the response of our communities to the horrific events. You’ll read what they found, and we’ll continue to cover the developing stories in the weeks and months to come.
As a company, we have also formulated several short-term and longer-term plans to provide aid and relief to the victims and their families.
This week, for example, you’ll find a wonderful photograph of the World Trade Center’s twin towers in this publication, and information on how to purchase your own copy of that photograph. All proceeds from the sale ofNewspapers commit resources
to national, local relief efforts the photographs will be donated to the American Red Cross to aid in the disaster relief effort.
We have provided other information on how you can help in this week’s edition. But we would also like to offer news space to any group or organization that is planning its own relief effort in the coming weeks. If your group, organization, or business is planning a benefit effort, please share that information with us in the form of a short press release and we will include it in the appropriate Greater Media publication or publications.
We are told that the effort to rebuild our buildings, heal our spirits and bring those responsible for this affront to justice will be a long one.
At Greater Media Newspapers, we’ll be a part of the effort throughout that difficult process. Working together with our readers and community leaders, we’ll do what we can to alleviate a small part of the suffering.
Join with us in our efforts and our prayers.
God bless America.
