Hillsborough High school’s students and staff officially launched the "Do Something for America" campaign to assist the thousands of rescue workers contributing to the efforts of saving in New York City and Washington, D.C.
Seniors Kelly Hoffer and Pam Wisbeski, along with senior class advisor Mrs. Hanley, encouraged fans attending the Hillsborough-Hunterdon Central football game on Saturday to donate to the American Red Cross relief effort with whatever donations each could give. The generous spectators contributed $795.36.
Thank you all a hundred fold.
On one of the cans we had decorated with American flags, we had also taped a baby toy, a small replica of Uncle Sam, one that belonged to my son, now twenty-six years old. A young boy, perhaps five years oldafter squeezing a dollar into the can asked his dad, "Daddy, who is that man wearing a flag on the can?" "That’s Uncle Sam," "we don’t have and Uncle Sam," the youngster replied puzzled.
His dad then enveloped his son’s small hand gently into his own much larger one and lovingly answered, "Oh, but we do and I’m going to tell you all about everybody’s Uncle Sam."
