   The concert Rodgers and Hammerstein Showcase is being presented free, in memory of the victims and families of the terrorist tragedy. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m., at the Church of the Assumption Hall, 76 Evergreen Road, New Egypt.
Saturday, Sept. 22
   Union AME Church in Allentown will host a car wash and bake sale 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the church parking lot, 72 Church Street. Cars, $7; SUVs/Vans, $10. Proceeds benefit Men’s Day. For more information, call the church at (609) 259-0483.

   A town meeting with U.S. Sens. Robert Torricelli and Jon Corzine will be held 2 p.m. at Monmouth Regional High School, 1 Norman J. Field Way, Tinton Falls. The senators will provide the latest news from Washington, D.C., and answer questions.
Sunday, Sept. 23
   The Allentown High School "Redbird" band will hold a car wash and bake sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The car wash will be held at the Hope Fire Company, Route 526. Funds raised will support the award-winning "Redbird" band as it prepares for a new season of field shows and competitions.

   The first Washington Township Cycling Classic will be held at Sharon School, Sharon Road. Races for different age groups and ability levels. For information call the Washington Township Recreation Department at 259-7082, ext. 110, or visit www.active.com.

   The ninth annual Classic Car Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Karl Mey’s Collision and Paint Center, Route 130 North, Windsor. The rain date is Sept. 30. Some 200 cars will be on display, plus Jeff Gordon’s Winston Cup Dupont Chevrolet. There will be music, food and free gifts. Admission is free.
Monday, Sept. 24
   The Allentown-Upper Freehold Historical Society along with Allentown’s Historic Preservation Review Commission is hosting a program entitled "Save our land, save our towns," at 7:30 p.m. at the Allentown Public Library. An hour-long video will be viewed as a planning and zoning primer presented by Thomas Hylton, small-town newsman and winner of the Pulitzer Prize.
Tuesday, Sept. 25
   The Washington Township Board of Education will hold an executive session meeting at 6 p.m. in the Pond Road Middle School Media Center, 150 Pond Road, Robbinsville, with the regular board meeting to follow at 8 p.m. Action may be taken.
Wednesday, Sept. 26
   The Villagers of Allentown will meet at 9:30 a.m. in the Allentown Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. The program, "Swimming Lake Ontario," will be presented by Marilyn DeLascio. Guests are welcome.

   The Millstone Township Girl Scouts will hold registration from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Millstone Township Elementary School library for girls kindergarten to 12th grade. Registration fee is $7. It is not necessary for the girls to attend the registration.

Friday, Sept. 28
   The Allentown Garden Club will plant flowers and ornamental grasses in Heritage Park, behind the Old Mill in Allentown between 5 and 7 p.m. Club volunteers will plant an area cleared by the township near the park kiosk.
Saturday, Sept. 29
   The United Presbyterian Church of Millstone will hold a worship conference from 9 a.m. to noon at the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone, 211 Millstone Road, Perrineville. Continental breakfast and free registration 8:30 a.m. to 8:55 a.m. Register by Sept. 27.
   This new event is sponsored by the Church Life committee of the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone and coordinated by the Bible Fellowship Ministries of Princeton. Guest speaker, the Rev. Palestine O. Davis, Faith for Now Ministries, Hamilton, will cover the main topic of the conference, "Principles in God’s Kingdom."
