Drumthwacket to hold open house on Sunday

   Drumthwacket, the official residence of New Jersey’s governors, will honor the 225th anniversary of American independence with an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
   In addition, the Drumthwacket Foundation is resuming guided public tours of the historic mansion from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesdays.
   The featured guest at Sunday’s open house will be the Rev. Dr. John Witherspoon (1722-1794), president of what is now known as Princeton University and a signer of The Declaration of Independence.
   Dr. Witherspoon will be impersonated by actor Robert Gleason from Philadelphia’s American Historical Theater.
   Drumthwacket docents will be on hand during the open house to share their in-depth knowledge of the house’s history.
