Randolph E. Mershon
WEST WINDSOR Randolph E. "Bud" Mershon Sr., 70, of Princeton Junction died Sept. 20 at The Medical Center at Princeton.
Born in Princeton, he was a lifelong West Windsor resident.
He was founder and president of R&E Mershon Concrete Products and was nominated by the state Department of Labor as Veteran Employer of the Year in 2000.
He received the same award from the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars earlier this year.
He sponsored many youth soccer, baseball and basketball teams in Hamilton, Bordentown, Chesterfield and Mansfield.
He also owned horse farms in Princeton and Ocala, Fla.
Brother of the late Herbert, Charles William and John Mershon, he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth H. Mershon; a son and daughter-in-law, Randolph E. Jr. and Sharon Mershon of Chesterfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Bettie and Patrick Greber of Princeton Junction and Cynthia and John Molesworth of Robbinsville; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Betty and Mike Kostue of Princeton Junction, Ginny and Pete Millington of Ocala and Anne Woodard of Princeton Junction; a granddaughter and her husband, Christine M. and Jeffrey Calandra; four grandsons, Randolph E. III and Tyler Mershon and Duncan and Patrick Molesworth; and nieces, nephews and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Princeton Borough.
Burial was in Princeton Cemetery.

Jean H. Coleman Thompson
PLUMSTED Jean H. Coleman Thompson, 65, died Sept. 19 at home.
Born in New Brunswick, she lived in Allentown before moving to New Egypt four years ago.
Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond "Butch" Thompson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Albert Young of New Egypt and Nancy and Jason Conk of North Hanover; two sons, Anthony Ruffino of California and Raymond Thompson of New Egypt; a sister, Leona Lopresti of New Brunswick; three brothers, James Coleman of Highland Park, Robert Coleman of Mount Laurel and Leonard Coleman of Las Vegas; and eight grandchildren, Jason and Albert Young, Samantha Thompson, Tabitha and Jesse Conk, Justin Thompson and Edward and Joseph Ruffino.
The funeral was held at Tilghman Funeral Home, New Egypt, with the Rev. Alaina Walton officiating.
Burial was private.

Judy C. Schafer
UPPER FREEHOLD Judy C. Taylor Schafer, 55, of Cream Ridge died Sept. 21 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold.
Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Schafer was a retired bus driver with Plumsted schools and had been an aide and computer teacher for Cerebral Palsy of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, Neptune.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Schafer; her mother, Agnes Taylor of Cream Ridge; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Jr. and Georgine Schafer of New Egypt; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen and Jeffrey Sonderman of Jackson and Crystal M. Schafer of Cream Ridge; three brothers, Arthur Taylor of Columbus, Larry Taylor of Hornerstown and Russell Taylor of Lakewood; two sisters, Barbara Ansteth of Somersworth, N.H., and Emily Lange of Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Sarah Schafer, Danelle Brown and Christine Sonderman; and two great-grandchildren, Angelo Schafer and Alexander Hughes.
The funeral was held at Tilghman Funeral Home, New Egypt, with the Rev. Scott Brown officiating.
Burial was in Emley’s Hill Cemetery, Cream Ridge.

Sylvia S. Sacks
MILLSTONE Sylvia S. Sacks, 93, of Perrineville died Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge.
Ms. Sacks was an insurance executive with Ernie White Insurance Agency, Santa Monica, Calif., for more than 20 years. She received her bachelor’s degree from Woodbury College. In her retirement years, she liked to travel, particularly on cruises. She and her second husband, Steve, also visited Las Vegas frequently. Born in St. Louis, she lived in California for many years before moving to Perrineville six years ago.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Jules Diamant, in 1962; and her second husband, Steve G. Sacks. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Nellie Diamant of Perrineville; her in-laws, Maxine Robinson, and Nathan and Bobi Sachs; a nephew, Lloyd Robinson; two nieces, Diane Gordon and Irene McLaughlin; and six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jessica, and Veronica Diamant, Sergio and Richard Trevino, and Joe Anthony Perez.
Funeral services and entombment will be held in Hollywood, Calif.
Charles J. Geraci Sr.
WASHINGTON Charles J. Geraci Sr., 74, of Robbinsville, died Monday, Sept. 17, at home.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident.
He retired as foreman for Taylor Pork Roll Provisions after 42 years.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Bordentown Elks Lodge and the San Colergero Society.
Son of the late George and Margaret Geraci, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marian Cordaro Geraci; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles J. Jr. and Celeste Geraci of Jackson; three daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret "Babe" and Arthur Wildgoose of Robbinsville, Denise and Chet Davis of Burlington Township and Michele and Bill Wojcik of Hamilton; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Edward Green of Trenton; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Carol Geraci of Hamilton; 13 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral was from Saul Colonial Home, Hamilton Square.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Yardville.
Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton.

Dorothy A. Laird Sommers
PLUMSTED Dorothy A. Laird Sommers, 66, died Monday, Sept. 17, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
Born in Trenton, she lived in New Egypt 30 years.
Mrs. Sommers was a homemaker.
Wife of the late Thomas J. Laird, she is survived by her husband, Thomas Sommers; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Laird of Lakewood and Kenneth and Jo Ann Laird of New Egypt; a granddaughter, Shannon Marie Laird; a brother, John Pointin of Trenton; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main St., New Egypt.
Burial was in Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, Trenton.
Chi Sheng Chen
WASHINGTON Chi Sheng Chen, 75, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
Born in China, he lived in Robbinsville three years.
He retired as an engineer in Taiwan.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Yiho Kao Chen; a daughter and son-in-law, Tienshon and Peter C. Pan of Robbinsville, with whom he lived; a brother, Adam Chen of California; three sisters in China; and two grandchildren, Christine and Harold Pan.
Funeral was at Hartmann Funeral Home, Mercerville, with the clergy of Oversea Chinese Mission Jireh Church of Aberdeen officiating.
Cremation will be private and burial will be in China.
Myrtle E. Smith
HAMILTON Myrtle E. Smith, 75, died Friday, Sept. 21, at Fox Subacute Center, Warrington, Pa.
Born in Hamilton, she lived in Allentown many years before returning to Hamilton.
Mrs. Smith retired after 30 years as a mill worker with Mercer Rubber Co., Hamilton Square.
She was a member of Allentown United Methodist Church.
Wife of the late John Robert Smith, she is survived by nieces and nephews, including Patricia Ann Schmidt and Cindy Quinn, with whom she lived; and a friend, Pauline Horner.
Cremation was private.
Graveside service was at Allentown United Methodist Cemetery.

Robert R. Sine
WASHINGTON Robert R. Sine, 68, died Monday, Sept. 24, at home.
Born in Asbury Park, he lived in Pennington before moving to Robbinsville in 1989.
He received a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Trenton State College. He was an Army veteran. He retired as a music and theater teacher at Hopewell Valley Central High School and worked for Airtrak Travel Agency of Bordentown. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dutch Neck, where he was superintendent of Sunday school and a deacon and elder. He was a member of Senior Citizens’ Council of Washington Township, New Jersey Education Association and Theta Nu Sigma fraternity.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathleen K. Sine; three daughters and sons-in-law, Allison J. and Gary Ruberg of Reston, Va., Mary Beth and Peter D. Simon of Glassboro and Leanne and Stephen Gall of Hopewell; four grandchildren; and a niece and nephew.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today (Thursday) at Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton, with Rev. Floyd Churn officiating.
Entombment will be in Princeton Memorial Park Mausoleum.
There will be no calling hours.

Parmie M. Lovett
PLUMSTED Parmie M. Lovett, 79, died Sunday, Sept. 23, at Silver Care Center in Cherry Hill.
Born in Trenton, she moved to New Egypt 12 years ago.
She retired as a cafeteria worker from Fisher School in Ewing and was a member of the Church of the Assumption, its Altar Rosary Society and New Egypt Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.
Wife of the late Edward Lovett and mother of the late Barbara Barber, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Steven Morgan of New Egypt; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard and Bernice Lovett of York, Pa., and Charles Lovett of Trenton; a son-in-law, Frank Barber of Hamilton; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral and burial was at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, with the Rev. Joseph Farrell officiating.
