HOWELL — There will be a debate between the two candidates running for the state Senate seat in the 30th legislative district. Incumbent Republican Sen. Robert Singer, who is a member of the Township Committee in Lakewood, will meet and debate his opponent, Democrat Timothy J. Konopka, the mayor of Howell, on Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the clubhouse of The Villages adult community, off Route 9. Villages spokesman Aaron Schrager said the debate will feature a panel comprised of three Villages residents who will ask the candidates questions submitted by the audience. The debate is open to the general public. The submission of questions for the candidates will be welcomed.
Schrager said both men will be given five minutes to initially present their platform and then three minutes to respond to questions that will be posed at random.
