The Township Committee applied for and received notification of a $60,000 grant award from the Community Development Block Grant Program to construct an additional rest room facility near the Picnic Pavilion at our Recreation Park. Deputy Mayor Joe Przywara is our representative for this grant program and is to be commended for obtaining this grant funding.
The Township Committee awarded a public bid for the relocation of a portion of Hopkins Road to the lowest of six bidders, C.J. Hesse Inc. of Belford, in the amount of $218,954.52. The Township Committee applied for and received a $125,000 grant from the state Department of Transportation to pay for the project, with the balance from the township’s Road Construction Capital Reserve Account. Committeeman Ken Francis, our liaison to the Road Department, was instrumental in obtaining the state aid.
Boating is now available at Oakford Lake Park, including canoes, kayaks and new paddle boats, which seat up to five people.
The next regularly scheduled meeting and citizen comment period with Township Committee members Ken Francis, Ada Roberts, Bonnie Quesnel and Deputy Mayor Joe Przywara is Oct. 8. Residents can preview our business agenda, to the extent known, 48 hours prior to the meeting on our Web site: www.plumsted.org.
Another public listening session with the mayor or committee member, is usually provided from 7-9 p.m. the first Wednesday of every month at our new library. However, due to a meeting conflict, the next listening session will be Oct. 10. The township’s Web site also features an e-mail link for residents to directly communicate with the mayor and committee, and listen to your concerns on a daily basis.
