The Allentown Garden Club will plant flowers and ornamental grasses in Heritage Park, behind the Old Mill in Allentown, between 5 and 7 p.m. Club volunteers will plant an area cleared by the township near the park kiosk.

The United Presbyterian Church of Millstone will hold a worship conference from 9 a.m. to noon at the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone, 211 Millstone Road, Perrineville. Continental breakfast and free registration 8:30 a.m. to 8:55 a.m. Register by Sept. 27.
This new event is sponsored by the Church Life Committee of the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone and coordinated by the Bible Fellowship Ministries of Princeton. Guest speaker, the Rev. The Cpl. Philip A. Reynolds Detachment will hold its installation ceremony of incoming officers for 2001-02 at 8 p.m. followed by the ceremony at the Elks Club on East Main Street, Freehold. The Washington Township Board of Education will hold a special executive board meeting at 7 p.m. in the Pond Road Middle School faculty lounge. Public meeting will follow at 7:30 in the school’s cafetorium. The topic of both meetings is the presentation of the amended architectural renderings. Action will be taken.
The Washington Branch, Mercer County Library will begin registering for its next series of story time sessions on Oct. 1. The series begins on Tuesday, Oct. 9, through Wednesday, Oct. 31. To register please call 259-2150 or stop at the library at 42 Allentown-Robbinsville Road.

The Millstone-Roosevelt Little League will hold its annual board of directors election at 7:30 p.m. at the Millstone Township Community Center. There are five open seats. Candidates wishing to be on the ballot should call Pete Hum, (732) 446-0598.
Saturday, Oct. 6
The annual High Riders Cycle Tour will be held starting with registration at 8 a.m. at the Cream Ridge Winery on Route 539 in Upper Freehold. Choose from the 10-, 30-, or 62-mile routes. Rest stops will provide food and beverages along the way. Riders can depart any time between 9 and 11 a.m. All pre-registered entrants will receive a free T-shirt. The pre-registration fee is $25. Registration after Sept. 21 is $30.
Proceeds benefit the Handicapped High Riders, which provide therapeutic horseback riding for the physically and mentally disabled. For more information, call 259-3884.
The "Girls Who Care" club of Robbinsville will be constructing a peace chain dedicated to the victims, families and rescue workers of the Sept. 11 tragedy.
Children who would like to contribute a link should cut out an 11-by-2-inch piece of colored construction paper, decorate it with a peaceful motif and sign his or her name. The links can be dropped in the box at the Girl Scouts soccer concession stand from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 6 at Washington Township Community Park. The club will assemble the chain and place it on public display as a visual reminder that we are all connected and united for peace.
The Millstone Heritage Council is hosting an open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to celebrate the finished restoration project of the Clarksburg Methodist Church building located at 512 Stagecoach Road (Route 524), Clarksburg.
The church building was built in 1845 and was donated to Millstone Township in 1997 after the outside of the building was restored. The building was placed on the National Register in February 1999. It’s the first of two building in the township that hold the honor.
The Yardville Presbyterian Women will sponsor their eighth annual fall craft show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Yardville Presbyterian Church, corner of South Broad Street and Yardville-Hamilton Square Road. The show will feature crafts, home baked goods, food, beverages, and a Trinkets and Treasures/White Elephant table.
Washington Township is sponsoring its seventh annual rummage sale on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Sunday, clothing is $1 per bag and other items are half price. Proceeds will benefit Washington Township Meals on Wheels. Those who can donate items can drop them off at the Washington Township Senior Center (adjacent to the Washington Township Branch of the Mercer County Library), weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or call Susan Molnar or Renee Burns at 259-1125.
Landscape designer Dolph Guerds of Ostrich Nursery will be at the Washington Branch of the Mercer County Library from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, with a series of gardening programs.
