Habitat for Humanity House Build in the Trenton area to be held Oct. 27
The Mercer County Association of Realtors Community Service Committee has contributed greatly in community sponsored projects in the past and its service to the community continues as MCAR announces its slate of sponsored projects for the remainder of 2001.
The MCAR will sponsor this year’s Habitat for Humanity House Build in the Trenton area. Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit group of volunteers who assist in construction of low-cost housing, will co-sponsor this year’s build along with MCAR on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at a site to be determined at a later date. Members of the association, under the direction of the site supervisor, will be working with prospective homeowners and with other volunteers who share an interest in providing housing for low-income families.
On Nov. 15, MCAR members will be donating their time to assist in the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK). Volunteers will be preparing food service for more than 200 meals to be distributed that day. Volunteers are asked to bring or donate any canned and/or non-perishable food items, as well as soap, toothbrushes, towels and other toiletries to be distributed that day.
The MCAR will also be sponsoring the first "What Makes a House a Home" contest for all of Mercer County’s elementary school students, K-5. Students will be asked to draw their idea of the perfect family home. Winners and runners-up from each township will receive gift certificates for the winning entries.
After the success of the Association’s Blood Drive this past July, MCAR plans to hold another Blood Drive for the community again in the fall. The date and time will be announced later this year.
The MCAR continues to have a prosperous association with HomeFront. To volunteer, donate, or to obtain more information, call the MCAR at (609) 392-3666 or visit www.mercerrealtors.com.
