discussed at summit

The Jersey Shore Partnership, Tinton Falls, will welcome five N.J. members of Congress to speak at its Jersey Shore Legislative Summit slated for Oct. 12.

The summit will be part of the partnership’s annual meeting and 10th anniversary commemoration to be held at the Ocean Place Conference Resort, Long Branch.

Congressmen Christopher H. Smith (R-4), Frank LoBiondo (R-2), Frank Pallone (D-6), James Saxton (R-3) and Rodney P. Frelinghuysen (R-11) will participate in the discussion.

The congressmen will share views on the federal government’s involvement in shore protection. Also discussed will be the future beach replenishment and how beaches affect New Jersey’s tourism and economic future.

EMACC issues update on needed donations

In light of recent events, the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce, Red Bank, has announced the following donation update:

• The Salvation Army, Riverside Avenue, Red Bank — new clothing (all sizes: men’s, women’s and children’s), as well as monetary contributions accepted.

• The Oakland House Restaurant, 58 Oakland St., Red Bank — canned goods, paper goods, clothing, and prepared foods for New York delivery, as well as local families and volunteers. For more information, call Lisa at (732) 450-9091.

• SeaStreak New York ferry service — men’s socks and underwear, flashlights, and batteries for New York City workers; also, dog food.

The Community YMCA, Maple Avenue, Red Bank, is providing grief counseling to individuals in need.

Conservatory hosts ‘Verdi Celebration’

The Monmouth Conservatory of Music, Red Bank, will present "A Verdi Celebration" on Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 1475 W. Front St., Lincroft section of Middletown.

Admission is $12 for adults, and $8 for children and seniors. The event will feature an assembly of 50 singers and instrumentalists performing arias, ensembles and choruses.
