The seventh annual Shrewsbury Classic 5K Race, the Foundation for Shrewsbury Education’s most important annual fund-raiser, is set for Sunday. Proceeds from the race are used for the technological and educational advancement of the children of Shrewsbury Borough School.
Applications for the Race can be picked up at The Running Store at The Grove, or Athlete’s Alley in Shrewsbury. Registration will take place at the school the afternoon prior to the race on Sept. 29 from 4-6pm, and on the day of the race, beginning at 7:30 am. Parking for the race will be at The Grove.
The One-Mile event will start at 8:30 a.m., and the 5k race will begin at 9:00 a.m. Kiddy dashes start at 10:30 a.m.
Heart rate monitors and sweatshirts will be awarded to the first male and female overall finishers, and sweatshirts and polo shirts will be awarded to the first three male and female finishers in each age category. All kiddy dash entrants will be awarded a ribbon.
In addition all 5k and one-mile entrants will be eligible to win great raffle prizes including a mountain bike, a dinner for two and various gift certificates. Refreshments, bagels, subs and fruit will be served.
