Editorial: The Beacon says good-bye to a good friend

It is with great sadness The Beacon says good-bye to its reporter and news editor of 15 years, Cynthia Williamson.
Cindy is moving on at the end of this week, and we say good-bye with such regret, yet pleasure in anticipation of her beginning another chapter of her life.
Cindy is not only a well-polished reporter, but she genuinely cares about this area, where she has lived and worked for so many years. Her children attend school here, and she has been involved with the school and the community as a parent, taxpayer and volunteer as well as a reporter.
Not only has Cindy as a reporter and news editor kept residents informed on what’s happening in their communities, she made sure they understand exactly what a decision or event means to them, financially and emotionally. She has chronicled all aspects of residents’ lives, from the humorous to the tragic, and her compassion has given every story meaning.
Cindy will write a story or two for The Beacon for a time. It was a hard decision for her as well as us to leave the job she loved so much.
And it will be hard to replace Cindy at The Beacon, particularly in our hearts. But the area will not lose her. She will continue to be an integral part of the area, giving of herself and her time with that sense of community that makes her a special person.
Every chapter has an ending. The Beacon will move on as Cindy is doing.
But we take the time now to say good-bye and wish her all the best.
   We love you, Cindy!
