Purchase tickets now for Hazlet Recreation trips

Hazlet Recreation will sponsor a bus trip to the "Holiday Spectacular" at Radio City Music Hall, New York City Nov. 8 at noon. The cost of the bus and ticket is $30, and only six tickets per person may be purchased. Tickets will be available Oct. 1.

A trip to see Oklahoma! at the Gershwin Theater, New York City, is planned for March 2 at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $62, and must be purchased by Sept. 28 (or trip will be canceled).

Buses for both trips depart from the library overflow parking lot on Middle Road, Hazlet. For more information, call Barbara at (732) 739-0653.

Ladies auxiliary to hold Halloween party Oct. 27

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Guadalcanal Post No. 4745, Cliffwood, will hold a Halloween party Oct. 27 from 8 p.m.-midnight. The post is at 699 Cliffwood Ave., Cliffwood.

Distinguished Service Medal ceremony Oct. 9

The N.J. Department of Military and Veterans Affairs will present the New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal (DSM) to 1,259 state residents at five award ceremonies this month.

State Sen. Joseph M. Kyrillos Jr. (R-13) will make the presentation to 250 Monmouth County combat veterans Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. at the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial, Holmdel.

The Distinguished Service Medal, the state’s top military award, is bestowed on combat veterans of World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, the Persian Gulf War, Somalia or Bosnia.

Amanda’s Easel art

program to begin Oct. 4

The Women’s Center of Monmouth County, Hazlet, will begin its "Amanda’s Easel Art Therapy Program" Oct. 4 at a new location in Long Branch. The program is for children age 6-13 and families affected by domestic violence.
