BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP A Mississippi man was listed in stable condition Tuesday at Capital Health Systems Fuld Campus in Trenton after being stabbed three times in Bordentown Township.
Joseph Miller, 33, of New Albany was transported by ambulance to the Fuld Campus after he was stabbed three times, with a knife, twice in the heart, by Lorne Frink, 31, of Syracuse, N.Y., in the early morning hours of Sept. 26, police said.
Sgt. Jack Smith, a spokesman for the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, said that it appears the victim was stabbed while traveling in a taxi cab, but that it could not be confirmed by the prosecutor’s office.
Mr. Frink was charged with attempted murder, and is being held at the Burlington County Jail with bail set at $150,000, said police. Police said that the case is pending presentation before a grand jury.
Mr. Frink worked for an out-of-state moving company and was staying at the Best Western in Bordentown Township, said police. Police also said that Mr. Miller was working at a local construction site for a company based in Tennessee, and was staying at the Days Inn in Bordentown Township.
Sgt. Smith said that eyewitnesses saw the two men argue throughout the night at various locations.
During an argument at 1:45 a.m., Mr. Frink allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Mr. Miller three times with two of the wounds nicking the heart. A third stab wound was inflicted to Mr. Miller’s abdominal area. Police have not yet determined what the argument was about.
A motel clerk at the Days Inn called an ambulance for Mr. Miller, police said. Township police later found Mr. Frink at the Best Western.
Mr. Miller had emergency surgery and was listed in stable condition. Sgt. Smith said that doctors now believe Mr. Miller will survive the assault.
Sgt. Smith said that specific details of the case are not being released right now because it is still an active investigation.
