freehold borough
Charges of driving while intoxicated were lodged against a Freehold Township woman following a motor vehicle accident at Park Avenue and South Street at 8:18 p.m. Sept. 20. Police said Janet Stieglitz, 30, was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
Disorderly conduct charges were lodged against a borough man as the result of an incident at Center and Third streets at 6 p.m. Sept. 20. Police said Dax Lida, 28, became abusive and disorderly when officers responded to a report of a fight at the scene.
Two borough men were charged with disorderly conduct as the result of an incident at the Rug Mill Towers on Jackson Street at 10:15 p.m. Sept. 21. Police said Luis Torres Rivera, 23, and Edgar Ruiz, 22, were charged after officers responded to a fight at the scene.
Disorderly conduct charges were lodged against an Asbury Park man following two incidents on First Street on Sept. 21, one at 10 a.m. and the second at 12:30 p.m. Police said McKenzie Pitts, 32, refused to leave a residence in both cases when ordered to do so. He was placed in the Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township, in default of $500 bail.
Various charges were lodged against a borough man as the result of an incident on Schiverea Avenue at 10 a.m. Sept. 13. Police said Roger Bryson Jr., 32, was charged with unlawful possession of a knife (a commando knife), making terroristic threats and criminal mischief. He was placed in the Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township, in default of $10,000 bail.
Police are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 13 on South Street. Police said a borough man, 27, reported that he was accosted by an unknown black male who tried unsuccessfully to take money from his pocket. Police said the assailant fled the scene in the company of two other unknown black males.
Police are investigating the attempted burglary of a Sheriff Street residence that occurred at 11:35 p.m. Sept. 14. Police said the male occupant of the residence reported that he was eating a sandwich when he heard a noise at the rear of the home. When investigating the noise, the man said he saw a gloved hand entering a window. The unknown intruder fled the scene.
Charges of driving while intoxicated were lodged against a borough man following a motor vehicle stop at 5:50 p.m. Sept. 17 on Broad Street. Police said Enrique Sanchez, 24, was stopped after going through a stop sign.
Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery that took place at midnight Sept. 19 in a Spring Terrace parking lot. Police said that as the victim entered the parking lot, he noticed two men attempting to enter a parked car. When the men saw him, the victim said one of them brandished what appeared to be a firearm and demanded money. When the victim threatened to call police with his cellular phone, the victim said the two men fled the scene in a late model black sports car. One of the subjects was described as tall and fair-skinned, with no facial hair and no eyeglasses. Police said conversation was mainly spoken in English, but that some of it was spoken in Spanish.
freehold township
At approximately 5:30 p.m. Sept. 12 a Howell resident who was shopping at Bob’s Stores, Trotters Way, lost a platinum diamond ring, according to police. The loss was not discovered until Sept. 13. A subsequent police investigation determined that on the day the ring had been lost a customer in the store had found the ring and made inquiries about it at the store. Police said the person who found the ring apparently kept it, since it had not been reported lost at that time. The finder of the ring or anyone who knows who that person may be is asked to contact Detective William Hankins at (732) 294-2110, Ext. 3103.
An unknown white female gave employees at Doktors Pet, Route 9, fraudulent information in order to obtain a temporary pet company credit card and then used the card to buy a cat for $887, according to a police report filed on Sept. 24.
A township juvenile was arrested on Majestic Drive at 7:44 p.m. Sept. 21 and charged with shooting another juvenile with a paint gun. According to a police report, the youth who had been shot was injured, but refused medical treatment. The juvenile who was arrested was processed and released to his parents.
A resident of Halls Mill Road told police at 11:30 p.m. Sept. 21 that unknown persons had entered the home sometime between 9-11:30 p.m. and removed approximately $1,100 in loose change. An investigation is continuing.
Following a report of a possible intoxicated driver, police made a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 at 11:48 p.m. Sept. 21 and charged Rutenis Niemcas, 25, of Chicago, with driving while intoxicated. He was processed and turned over to Lakewood police.
manalapan
Unknown persons threw bricks through the glass doors of two businesses at Andee Plaza, Route 33, and stole the cash registers from those stores. The victims were Welsh Farms and Romeo Pizza Restaurant. Police responded at 4 a.m. Sept. 22.
In an incident reported at 12:21 a.m. Sept. 21, police said unknown persons threw a rock through the front door of the Cigar Exchange in the Home Fashion Center, Route 9. A cash register containing approximately $200 was taken. The case is pending investigation.
A custodian at the Taylor Mills School, Gordons Corner Road, reported that an insulated window valued at $1,000 was shattered by unknown persons sometime between 5 p.m. Sept. 18 and 8 a.m. Sept. 19. Police were called at 9:13 a.m. Sept. 19. An investigation is pending.
Multiple charges were lodged against a Manalapan male, 15, following a Sept. 19 incident on Taylor Lake Court. Police said the juvenile took a friend’s vehicle and struck a brick mailbox. The juvenile then fled on foot to a residence on Peach Tree Lane. The juvenile was located, arrested and charged with being an unlicensed driver, failure to report a motor vehicle accident and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident. He was processed and released to a parent.
Manalapan police charged Lawrence Brooks, 56, of Manalapan, with aggravated assault at 5:35 p.m. Sept. 18. Police said officers responded to the Pine Brook Care Center, Pension Road, to investigate a report of an altercation between two residents. Police said Brooks is accused of striking an 86-year-old woman in the head with a glass vase after the two had engaged in an argument.
Following a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 at 11:38 p.m. Sept. 12, police charged Pavel Shnayder, 43, of North Miami Beach, Fla., with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, having an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle and failure to change his address on a driver’s license. He was arrested, processed and released.
Six juveniles, ages 11, 12, 13, 15, 15 and 16, were all charged with theft after they allegedly removed construction materials from a construction site on Pension Road. All of the juveniles were brought to police headquarters, processed and released to their parents. The case is pending review by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
