Rutgers University has several area athletes who are competing on the Scarlet Knights’ fall teams.
Manalapan’s Mike Esposito (6-4, 291) and Marlboro’s Anthony Evegan (6-1, 254) are offensive linemen on the football team. Esposito is a senior and Evegan, a sophomore.
Freehold’s Jackie Forsyth is playing on the field hockey team. She is a freshman and is playing midfield.
Risa Radin, a Marlboro High School grad, is a member of the women’s soccer team, where she is an outside back. She is a freshman.
The men’s cross country team has a pair of Freehold District runners, Joe Pellegrino of Marlboro and Justin Mandzik of Howell. Pellegrino, a junior, returns for his second season with the team, while Mandzik is a sophomore
Hsin-Ling Lee of Marlboro is playing fall tennis for the Knights. The sophomore played singles and doubles for Rutgers in the spring when the Scarlet Knights went 10-7.
In fall golf, Manalapan’s Eric Schechterman is looking to get his senior year off to a good start. He is the No. 2 scorer among the returning Knights.
