Admissions consultant to give presentation at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

UPPER FREEHOLD College-bound students and their parents will be able to receive advice Tuesday from a local expert in the college admissions process.
College admissions consultant and retired guidance counselor Ken Hitchner will give a presentation, "The College Admissions Process From Beginning to End," at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Allentown High School auditorium.
Mr. Hitchner will discuss the admissions process, financial aid and finding the right college for a student.
The seminar is free and is for parents and college-bound students.
A former Hightstown Borough Council member, Mr. Hitchner has written several books about guidance counseling and college admissions, including "Making a Difference in College Admissions."
He was a secondary school counselor for 35 years in four different New Jersey school districts: Wall Township, Jackson, South River and East Brunswick.
In 1997, after retiring from his position as a secondary school counselor, he served as project consultant for Sylvan Learning Systems/Educational Testing Service. Mr. Hitchner is presently an educational consultant along with his wife, Anne Tifft-Hitchner, specializing in career and college planning and individual self-assessment.
Mr. Hitchner was a member of the East Windsor Regional Board of Education for three years.
A musical composer and writer, he is the director of the "Admissions Standards," a popular vocal group made up of college admission and secondary school counselors which performs at educational conferences throughout New Jersey.
