MONROE — The Monroe Township High School guidance office was evacuated and relocated Tuesday after three employees complained that they felt sick.
Superintendent Ralph Ferrie said the three staff members complained of feeling ill and were taken to the school nurse, who determined they all had high blood pressure. He said no students were affected.
Dr. Ferrie said the school felt the best thing to do was to evacuate the area until it determined what the issues were surrounding the staff members’ illnesses.
"We are very concerned about the safety of the staff," he said. "There’s been an issue with the guidance suite in the past and we will determine the root of the problem."
Dr. Ferrie said environmental studies began on the area Thursday to test the air for causes of the problems.
He said the area had been tested before, with negative results.
One of the staff members was brought to Old Bridge Regional Hospital with the aforementioned symptoms.
Dr. Ferrie said she is doing well.
