MANSFIELD John V. Michel, 82, died Oct. 4 at Girard Medical Center, Philadelphia.
Born and raised in Elmhurst, N.Y., he moved to Columbus 15 years ago from Huntington, N.Y., where he lived 35 years.
He graduated from The Cooper Union, New York City, and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Michel was an engineer with Sperry Gyroscope, Great Neck, N.Y., retiring in 1982.
He was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed reading and ham radio. He was a life member and director of the Quarter Century Wireless Association.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Clare Bresnan Michel; a daughter and son-in-law, Clare and Tim Smith of East Windsor; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Silva Michel of Port Washington, N.Y.; and five grandchildren, Christopher, Laura and Katie Smith and Gregory and Daniel Michel.
Funeral was Wednesday at Page Funeral Home, Burlington.
Burial was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
