To the editor:
I am writing to encourage the residents of Hightstown to vote for Dan Buriak and Rick Pratt for Borough Council. Over the past few weeks, Dan and Rick have outlined their positions for several issues facing the borough. They have shown that community involvement is tantamount to affecting change and improving the quality of life in the borough. But community involvement is more than just attending meetings and speaking out. It requires solutions and the will power to make solutions happen.
They recognize that an idea is many times only half the solution to a problem. Action is required to bring the ideas to reality. They have numerous accomplishments, from bringing traffic concerns to the forefront of state and county officials, to increasing awareness of pedestrian safety, to researching the benefits of historical preservation. Equally important is their recognition that many of the issues Hightstown faces have solutions which require aid from our county and state officials. Dan and Rick’s track record show that they have the enthusiasm and determination required to pursue such aid, not just talk about it.
They also recognize that the needs of the community can sometimes be beyond what can be provided by government. One shining example was their active role in helping Mayor Amy Aughenbaugh and CAPPS organize "An Evening of Healing and Hope," a concert held this past Saturday at The Peddie School in tribute to all who were affected by recent tragic events. Artists from around the area filled the evening with a true outpouring of hope through a diverse set of performances. The evening was truly extraordinary for the over 400 people from our community who attended.
Dan and Rick have proven that they take action for the best interests of our town. And that is why we should support them on Election Day.
