Democrat’s ad misleading voters

To the editor

In the past month plus, I’ve become renewed with the patriotism and American spirit that has so wonderfully swept across this great country. It has been such a welcome sight — the American flags everywhere and the nicer attitude embraced by so many. That bubble was burst in a political cable ad for Hillsborough Democrat Bob Mack.
The ad says Bob Mack saved open space, stopped development and other utter nonsense. Mack and his cronies have in fact done just the opposite. Just drive up and down Route 206 if you can stand the traffic. At Falcon Road, there are roughly 100 acres being bulldozed and at Hillsborough Road there’s another big chunk of trees gone forever. Both of those projects were stopped by the Republicans but mysteriously approved by the Democrats who claim to be stopping development.
The Promenade at Falcon Road was going to happen at some future time since the zoning makes sense, however, the project was on hold because the developer knew he would not get approval to build without first having Route 206 improved to handle the traffic. After sizable donations to the Democrats, the developer got his approval and will add 20,000 cars to our already traffic-stalled roads.
The most disgusting part of Bob Mack’s ad insinuates that the Republicans were found guilty of influence peddling. That is a lie, pure and simple! The most public and most thoroughly investigated issue in Hillsborough history found several individuals guilty, and, yes, they are Republicans. However there is absolutely nothing to suggest that the Hillsborough Republicans acted as a group to force Greenbriar through channels.
Further, Tony Gwiazdowski had no input whatsoever in Greenbriar and was not part of any meeting where it was discussed. Implicating Mr. Gwiazdowski in this is reprehensible on the part of Bob Mack. But we should not have expected otherwise, given Mr. Mack’s past record of deceit and false accusations.
Since getting power in Hillsborough, the Democrats have backed off on every major promise they made. They’ve appointed party chairmen and campaign workers to paying jobs after promising to use, on1y qualifications. They said they would eliminate the numerous developer-friendly loopholes inthe Master Plan, and in fact have made no significant changes because there are no such loopholes.
Mack and his cohorts said they would change the form of government so you could elect the mayor directly — and that is just another major promise relegated to the dumpheap of Democrat politics.
This year please put a good, community-minded person of excellent qualifications like Tony Gwiazdowski on Township Committee. We cannot afford to have the Democrats take further advantage of their dictatorship — we need a real watchdog so that the truth can be brought to light. I’ve been quiet since leaving office in 1999 but filled with the true spirit of what makes this country great, I could not remain silent with so much at stake. Please vote for Tony Gwiazdowski for Hillsborough Township Committee.
